2021-04-14

Riot Games has just released Wild Rift Patch 2.2A for the game. The new update includes a brand new champion, Rammus the Armordillo, alongside multiple changes to various other characters. Moreover, a few balance changes have also been made to make the game more viable for competitive play. With the patch season 2 new champion adding tons of new content, 2.2A aims to streamline everything.

Wild Rift Patch Notes 2.2A:

The world of Wild Rift is certainly filled with tons of mysteries. With new Champions popping out left and right and with many having to face changes every new patch, it is certain that the developers are putting in a lot of time and effort to ensure that the game remains as smooth as possible whilst remaining enjoyable for everyone.

However, if you haven’t already, you can check out the patch yourself by downloading Wild Rift for free on PC.

New Champion – Rammus:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

Rammus the Armordillo is an absolutely mystifying creature. The champion is protected by a spiked shell with no clue to where his origin is actually from. Considered as a demigod to some, and a mere beast to others, he roams the Shuriman Desert on his own terms with no one able to stop him.

The champion will be released on the 22nd of April at 0:01 UTC. We’ll surely be covering his launch as it will come alongside a brand-new event that lets you unlock the champion.

New Skins:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

Wild Rift does not shy away from adding new skins and Patch 2.2A seems to be no exception. The Stargazer set has been added to the game alongside two skins for the currently unreleased champion, Rammus:

  • Stargazer Camille
  • Stargazer Soraka
  • Stargazer Twisted Fate
  • Molten Rammus
  • Sweeper Rammus

New Items:

With the ability to purchase these items from the shop or to get them through unlockables, new accessories have been added to the game and they definitely are head-turners for the select few that get to unlock them:

  • Icons: Stargazer Endeavor, Stargazer Triumph
  • Emotes: Stargazer Pengu
  • Recalls: To The Stars, Cosmic Transcendence
  • Baubles: Stargazer

These accessories will not be released at once but will rather be coming out throughout the duration of the patch.

Free to Play Champion Rotation:

The free-to-play Champion Rotation is a list of Champions that you do not need to purchase and that can be played whether you unlock them or not. Here’s the rotation for April 2021:

Apr 15 - Apr 21: Braum, Evelynn, Fizz, Galio, Graves, Jax, Kai’Sa, Lulu, Singed, Varus

Apr 22 - Apr 28: Alistar, Aurelion Sol, Corki, Dr. Mundo, Fiora, Shyvana, Soraka, Xayah, Xin Zhao, Ziggs

New Wild Rift Events for April 2021:

The Developers are also going to be adding new events throughout the course of the patch. These events help you unlock specific items or even grind resources and currency. Most of the items you get from events are exclusive and are available for a limited time only.

Therefore, we always recommend staying on top of Events to make the most out of the game.

Stargazer:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

To celebrate the launch of the first exclusive Wild Rift only skin line, an in-game event will start from the 15th of April which introduces and shows you the world of the Stargazers. If you choose to complete the missions, you unlock Blue Motes and accessories throughout the entire event which will be running till the end of April.

We’ll be updating the post with more information about the event once it is officially released. So, stay tuned!

120 FPS Support:

More high-end devices are now being supported with 120 FPS. However, LDPlayer already supports 120 FPS on games like Wild Rift. Here’s how you can enable 120 FPS Gameplay on Wild Rift using LDPlayer.

Champion Balance Changes:

Perhaps the crux of the update, champions have been changed quite a bit in order to make sure that the game remains balanced. Here are all the changes you should know about.

Alistar:

According to the developers, Alistar’s dealing too much damage considering he’s a tanky supportive champion, especially to turrets. Therefore, his 2nd ability, Headbutt has been altered:

  • Damage: 55/130/205/280 → 50/120/190/260
  • Turret damage ratio: 150% → 75%

Blitzcrank:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

Blitzcrank is not in the best place in the meta right now. Therefore, the Developers are rolling back some of the nerfs he received at the end of 2020. Combined with the new changes to items for Tanks, he should turn into much better support.

Rocket Grab:

  • Damage: 60/120/180/240 → 80/140/200/260

Overdrive:

  • Self-slow duration: 1.5s → 1s

Corki:

Corki’s packages have been turning up a bit too quickly. Therefore, the developers are providing him and his opponents with a little bit of breathing room. Now, his package delivery rate has been altered from 100 seconds to 150 seconds.

Diana:

Diana is quite weak right now in every way of manner. Therefore, the developers are changing some of her ranks up powers alongside some general buffs as well. All of these combines should help her become a better laner as well as remain relevant throughout all stages of the game.

Base Stats

  • Base Health: 570 HP → 610 HP

Moonsilver Blade

  • [NEW] After casting a spell, Diana gains 30% to 120% Attack Speed (based on level) for the next 3 attacks.

Crescent Strike

  • Cooldown: 10/9/8/7s → 9/8/7/6s

Pale Cascade

  • Cooldown: 14s → 13/11.5/10/8.5s

Lunar Rush

  • [REMOVED] Bonus Attack Speed moved to (P) Moonsilver Blade

Moonfall

  • Minimum base damage: 150/200/250 + 35% AP → 175/225/275 + 40% AP
  • Maximum base damage: 300/400/500 + 70% AP → 350/450/550 + 80% AP

Dr.Mundo:

Mundo’s base stats have been changed quite a bit due to him being extremely strong after he purchases Sunfire Aegis

Base Stats

  • Attack Damage: 64 → 58
  • Health: 690 HP → 650 HP
  • Armor: 45 → 40

Masochism

  • Duration: 5s at all ranks → 3/3.5/4/4.5s

Galio:

Galio has disrupted the meta quite a bit and therefore, the developers have decided to tone down his damage from all his skills while also shortening his third ability Justice Punch’s range. If you still are having troubling jungling, here’s a quick guide on how you can farm efficiently as a jungler in Wild Rift.

Base Stats

  • Health: 610 HP → 570 HP

Colossal Smash

  • Cooldown: 5/4/3s at level 1/5/9 → 5/4.5/4s at level 1/5/9
  • Base damage: 15 to 225 (based on level) → 15 to 190 (based on level)

Winds of War

  • Percent HP damage per AP ratio: 2% → 1.5%

Shield of Durand

  • Cooldown: 15/14/13/12s → 18/17/16/15s
  • AP ratio: 60% → 45%

Justice Punch

  • Dash range: 6.5 → 5.75

Leona:

Leona’s still not considered as an amazing crowd control support in the Meta. Therefore, the developers have decided to lower the cooldowns of her main combo.

Shield of Daybreak

  • Cooldown: 6s → 5s at all ranks

Zenith Blade

  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10s → 12/10/8/6s

Pantheon:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

While Pantheon has been re-worked in Patch 2.2, the developers still feel like he could use a few more tools in his arsenal. So, these particular adjustments should help him feel more relevant in the mid-game.

Base Stats

  • Attack Damage: 58 → 64
  • Attack Damage per level: 2.65 per level → 3.6 per level

Comet Spear

  • Tap base damage: 55/100/145/190 → 70/110/150/190
  • Charge base damage: 55/100/145/190 → 70/110/150/190
  • Bonus AD ratio: 100% → 110%
  • Critical strike bonus AD ratio: 150% → 165%

Shyvana:

Shyvana has gotten too strong over the recent patches. Therefore, the developers have decided to nerf her quite substantially.

Base Stats

  • Health: 650 HP → 610 HP

Twin Bite

  • Cooldown: 8/7/6/5s → 9/8/7/6s

Flame Breath

  • Maximum on-hit HP damage ratio: 3.5% → 3%

Tristana:

The developers are persistently buffing Tristana till she matches the damage and DPS level of other Marksman champions.

Base Stats

  • Attack Damage per level: 2.65 per level → 3.6 per level

Explosive Charge

  • Cooldown: 16s at all ranks → 16/15/14/13s

Vi:

Vi has been a popular and reliable pick in high-level games, but on the strong side in regular play. These changes allow her to keep her reliable gank patterns, but at a slightly higher risk.

Base Stats

  • Armor: 35 → 30

Assault and Battery

  • Cooldown: 85/65/45s → 95/75/55s

Item Changes:

Since the update is primarily meant for balancing, Items have also been changed in order to accommodate them for the new meta. Plus, here's the best possible way to play Wild Rift on PC!

Infinity Orb:

The Infinity Orb was providing way too much value in terms of its cost. Therefore, its price has been increased a little to delay its purchase in games where one team is already snowballing.

  • Total Cost: 2850g → 3150g

Sunfire Aegis:

Besides Mundo, this item is not particularly overpowered. However, nerfing it is necessary as it is usually the only item choice for most Tanks.

  • Base Damage: 16 to 30 → 16 to 25
  • Bonus Damage HP Ratio: 1% → 0.8%

Glorious Enchant:

A bug has been fixed where the item’s price showed up as 800g where it was actually worth 500g. The actual item’s price remains unchanged.

Game System Changes:

Currently, in Wild Rift Patch 2.2A, only Turrets have been changed. This is primarily due to the fact that high-level games are involving a lot of grouping which makes the laning phase almost non-existent. Therefore, a few changes have been made to Turrets:

  • During the first 4 minutes (previously 3 minutes), Solo (Baron) Lane and Mid Lane outer turrets gain 90 bonus Armor and Magic Resist.
  • During the first 4 minutes (previously 3 minutes), all outer turrets gain additional defensive bonuses when multiple enemies are nearby:
  • 2 champions in total: 10 Armor and Magic Resist
  • 3 champions in total: 100 → 250 Armor and Magic Resist
  • 4 champions in total: 200 → 300 Armor and Magic Resist
  • 5 champions in total: 300 → 350 Armor and Magic Resist

LDPlayer Features for Wild Rift:

Wild Rift Patch 2.2A Released – New Champions, Balance Changes & More

LDPlayer is arguably the best emulator out there for Wild Rift. Alongside this game, it supports various other MOBAs, games, and applications. For Wild Rift, LDPlayer supports complete key remapping taking your gameplay to the next level.

With the ability to change your binds and use your mouse to move around the map, you can easily play Wild Rift the same way you would on a PC. You can also set up dedicated key schemes according to your comfort. Here’s a dedicated guide on how you can use key remapping in League of Legends: Wild Rift.

Conclusion:

The new balance patch has certainly added a lot of variety and depth to the game. We can't wait to see how the meta will change as almost all champions have been changed or completely reworked in some cases. The game is available in almost every region including SEA, NA, EU and more.
