This special downtime event is known as the A Light Spark in Darkness Event and features a special kind of mechanic that doesn’t require players to farm the event itself.

In addition, the event introduces a brand new 6* Operator who is one of the most powerful operators in the history of Arknights - Goldenglow, a special drone caster capable of dealing damage to enemies across the entire map.

In this guide, we will go over the details of the new A Light and Darkness event, show players how they can get the most amount of rewards and debate on whether or not players should roll on the new 6* Caster Operator - Goldenglow.

Let’s play Arknights on PC and find out.

LDPlayer 9.0 - The Perfect Engine to Experience Arknights

Recently introduced, LDPlayer 9.0 not only allows players to easily download and play Arknights on PC, it is also designed and specialized so that players can have the best experience playing Arknights on the highest FPS and highest graphics

Furthermore, with LDPlayer’s keyboard-mapping function, players can clear Arknights stages more effectively using only keyboard buttons, allowing players to be able to do the most famous Arknights trick - the Pause deployment trick, making the stages faster and easier to play and clear than when playing on mobile.

Arknights Event - A Light Spark in Darkness

A story collection type of event, A Light Spark in Darkness event is mainly divided into 3 different event parts: the story nodes, the event shop and the currencies farm.

The Story Nodes

The story nodes are specially available stages within the event itself, and clearing them for the first time gives all players 1 Originite for each stage, up to 8 Originites for all normal stages.

Additionally, clearing the normal stages will unlock challenge modes, with increasing difficulty and an additional 8 Originites awarded to players who can clear all 8 additional challenge stages.

Available exclusively in the event are special event story records that players can unlock by exchanging the records in the shop. Through these records, players will be able to collect lores about their favorite operators and obtain extra materials for character upgrading once they have unlocked all 6 event records.

The Event Shop

The Event shop for the Light Spark in Darkness event is not as rewarding as other events, as it is only a 1 week event and only gives a limited amount of rewards obtainable in the shop.

For special records events, there’s special records in the shop that you can exchange for in order to unlock special story records, allowing you to obtain special lore and stories about your favorite operators in addition to extra rewards for unlocking all 6 stories available during the event period.

Other notable rewards in the shop during the event are: Headhunting Ticket, EXP, LMD, Skill Books, and character upgrading materials.

As the shop is small and doesn’t contain many items, players should aim to clear out the shop during the event period.

Event Currency Farming

Unlike normal events where players can only obtain event currencies by farming the event story stages, this event allow players to obtain event currencies from every material stages in the game ( excluding annihilation, contingency contracts training, and Integrated Strategies 2 mode). Therefore, while farming stages in the game, you will be obtaining event currencies without having to focus solely on clearing event story nodes.

Due to this special quality of the event, it is important for new players to take this opportunity and farm up the materials they need to beef up their team in advance in order to be prepared for the upcoming Arknights Event - Contingency Contracts #8

Some of the most efficient stages for players to farm in are:

-EXP Nodes (LS 1-5)

-LMD Nodes(SE 1-5)

-Class Chips Nodes (PR-A-2)

-Character Material Nodes (Story nodes)

-Character Skill Books Nodes (CA 1-5)

-Orundum Farming Node (1-6)

Of these, newer players should focus on the first 4 categories, while veteran players should consider the latter 2 options in order to prepare for future events and banners with new characters.

Golden Glow Banner - Should You Roll

Together with the A Light Spark in Darkness Event, Arknights also introduces a new banner into the game with 2 new Operators as the banner’s main attractions - the 5* Supporter Operator Quercus and the 6* Caster Operator Goldenglow.

Quercus

A supporter of the Buffer archetype, Quercus is essentially the upgraded version of Podenco, having a kit that specializes in both offensive and defensive/support capabilities.

Quercus’ main ability allows her to switch between offensive mode (when she is not using a skill) and healing mode (when she uses a skill).

Quercus shines as a Buffer archetype in the fact that players can switch between her skill 1 and skill 2, changing her way of playing entirely. Quercus’ skill 1 is extremely simple, a permanent atk up for her once her skill proc, allowing her to deal massive amounts of damage to enemies within range. Meanwhile, Quercus’ skill 2 allows her to heal allies within range with fast accuracy, in addition to restoring 1 SP for the ally every time they receive a heal, allowing them to use their skill much faster.

Goldenglow

The long awaited operator that was almost 1 year in the making, Goldenglow is a 6* Caster operator that controls drones to do her bidding, allowing her to deal massive amounts of ST damage on many enemies all over the map.

Goldenglow's main abilities revolve around her usage of the drones she carries around. The drones can lock onto specific enemies within Goldenglow’s range and attack them continuously. If the drone attacks the same enemy multiple times, it will gain stacked attack values, making Goldenglow potentially an extremely powerful boss killer.

Goldenglow’s 1st and 2nd skills further amplify her damage while also maintaining her damage on a single enemy, especially with her 2nd which lasts for an unlimited duration once it is activated, making her deal sustainable and significant damage to enemies within her range.

In addition, Goldenglow skill 3 allows her to obtain 2 additionamplifyal drones and expand her range to global, allowing her drones to deal damage on every corner of the map, making her an extremely rare operator capable of wide range damage dealing in Arknights.

Should You Roll

Yes, you absolutely should. For newer players, both operators on rate up are extremely versatile and can be an immense help in clearing story and event stages.

For older players who have access to other ST casters such as Ejya or Ceobe, Goldenglow still shines through even if she has much competition. Goldenglow’s sustainable and consistent damage makes her one of the easier casters to use that can deal massive amounts of damage to bosses and tough enemies alike. In addition, her global range thanks to her skill also make her extremely valuable compared to other casters who are limited by their range.

Therefore, if players still have leftover Orundums from the 2.5 banners, the Goldenglow banner is an absolutely amazing banner to roll for.
