Head of the Herd is a casual shoot ‘em up game for Android. The player moves around the area using the on-screen joystick and shoots at enemies using the shoot button. The aim of the game is to collect and protect as many sheep as possible, until the player’s rank is Head of the Herd. At the start of the game, the player has no sheep in their herd. When they move into the range of a sheep, the sheep joins the herd and the herd moves with the player. Predators of differing speed are spawned within the arena and move towards the player, who must face them to trigger auto aim, then shoot at the nearest enemy using the shoot button.

Objects:
Player: is controlled by the user.
Sheep: spawns into the arena and if the player moves close enough, it is added to the herd and the player earns a point. If it collides with a predator, it is removed and the player loses a point.
Herd: is attached to the player and moves with the player.
Predators: are either lions or jackals; they move towards the player and if they collide with a sheep in the herd, the sheep is removed and the player loses a point.
Score and rank: the score increases with each sheep collected and decreases with each sheep eaten by a predator. Depending on the score, the player has a rank: Bunty Beginner, Wooly Apprentice, Sure-footed Shepherd, or Head of the Herd.
