Postknight 2 Review - A new delivery RPG that betters the first game

2021-12-08

Postknight 2 is an interesting delivery RPG game from developers Kurechii as a follow-up to the first game. Like the first Postknight game, your role in this game is to be a Postknight, whose job it is to deliver cargos to their respective recipients all over the world.

Even though this game is a casual RPG game, it offers interesting twists that see you battle monsters and other creatures to get to your destination and complete your delivery.

Battling these enemies will see you be rewarded with new gears, gold coins, and sometimes rare gems. While the game started slow, it picks up after you’ve unlocked certain features and have played to at least level 10. Deliveries will become more intense, enemies will become stronger, and stages will become longer.

Postknight 2 will see you recreate bonds with old and new characters while presenting the came in a fine-looking cartoon art style. In this review article, we’ll be diving into the game’s pros and cons to give you our honest thought on Postknight 2.

Story

Before we dive into the gameplay, let’s tell you what the story is all about. Okay, so in this game, you play as a Postknight trainee, and you were placed under the wings of trainee almond, who is also a trainee and a self-proclaimed best Postknight of all time.

Almond, who is supposed to help you become a better Postknight, goes on to show you how good he is and how you can never catch up to his potential. After the first stages of the training, you won’t get to interact much with him as you’ve pretty much gotten the hang of the gameplay by then.

Soon you’ll be introduced to Tina, your Blacksmith. She’ll oversee all your weapon or amour upgrades as well as give you tips of her own on how to be a great Postknight. In the first game, the blacksmith was a male, and in Postknight 2 it’s a female character, so that’s a pretty cool change to see in this one because you don’t see many female blacksmiths around.

Gameplay

Like the first game, Postknight 2 does return with that captivating delivery RPG experience that lured thousands of players to it at first, and this time it only got better. The gameplay has seen minor improvements in graphics, visuals, more customizations in character creation, and others.

There’s even a feature that lets you either take a nice walk around town to get to your destination or slide the button by holding it longer to sprint to your desired destination. There’s also fast travel, but this feature allows you to meet other Non-player characters and interact with them.

The enemies in this latest release seem to be tougher compared to the first game. They attack more fiercely and take longer to put down, so that has added a bit more of a challenge and will make your Postknight adventure a tough one.

Graphics

We have to note how improved the detail is in this new game because it looks excellent, at least on high-end gaming devices. Every little detail in the game can be seen and pictured clearly without blur to it.

The items you deliver in this game have been upgraded to look than cargos looked in the first game. Not to make it seem like we’re taking away a lot from Postknight 1, but Postknight 2 brought it, and it brought it hard.

The graphics are very good, and if you’re starting and haven’t unlocked a ton of features yet, then we recommend playing and leveling up to unlock cool stuff and start gifting girls with flowers or any other things you think they’ll like.

And you can also customize your character and update his equipment later on in the game.

Music and Soundtrack

The game’s menu music is average, to say the least, and there’s not much we can attest to that. But the in-battle soundtrack, you know, the one that involves the sound that comes from blocking enemy attacks and attacking them with weapons of your own? That in-game sound is pretty cool.

You could hear the shield make a blocking sound showing that the attack was well defended and that not much damage was dealt with your character. Other areas might include the chest opening, which has a nice soundtrack whenever you’re about to open a chest and claim your rewards.

Controls

Like with the first game, the controls in Postknight 2 are the same but improved in some ways. Unless your device has a massive screen, you could actually play the game with one hand. There isn’t much to do in terms of tapping and clicking.

When in battle, there are only three buttons to use. One is the charge button that allows you to strike an enemy with your sword; the other is the shield button that lets you block incoming enemy attacks, and then there’s the portion button that allows you to use the health portion to regain your HP.

However, these controls can get complicated and require you to press them at just the right times. Pressing them before an enemy attack could lead to a wait time, which means you’ll be vulnerable for a couple of seconds until you can use one of the buttons again.

The Bad

Crashing Issues

Some players have reported crashing issues on their high-end devices capable of handling this game. Of course, we’re aware that it’s a new game, but this is worth noting to increase the awareness of the issue and bring the developer’s attention to the problem.

The game instantly crashes and brings up a bug report prompt that you can decide to fill. And if you don’t fill it, you could just close the app and reopen it. The game might load up and start alright once again, but it could crash again for no reason.

Verdict

Postknight 2 is an enjoyable game that offers more to better the first game in some ways. This installment offers smoother gameplay, new customizations, new characters, and some cool features that the first game lacked.

So if you enjoyed the first Postknight game that launched in 2017, then another delivery RPG adventure awaits you in Postknight 2.
