Coal Mining Inc. is a new strategy game from Lion Studios, developers of highly acclaimed titles like Happy Glass, Slap Kings, and many more. The game allows players to take control of a coal mining factory and grow it into a mega-successful coal mining factory. 

 

There’s a lot of things that coal can be used for, which makes it a highly important resource to humans. Some of its uses involve electricity generation, turning water into steam with a high enough pressure to move the turbine which creates electricity. 

 

Coal can also be used to create metal and other forms of synthetic materials like carbon fibers and foams and can fuel different types of land vehicles. Going over the very brief Tutorial

The game starts off with a quick tutorial that is pretty much aimed to get you ready to commence mining that coal as soon as possible. Drill mining is an essential aspect of the game. It involves using a Driller transport vehicle to drill the coal from below. Another transport vehicle will be used to collect the coal and carry it towards the processing machines. 

 

Upon arriving at the processing unit, the coals are loaded onto a crushing machine used to break large coal into smaller pieces. You will then be prompted to upgrade your Coal Blaster Capacity for faster crushing. 

 

 

The Office

---

This is where you can upgrade many essential items that will help you in day-to-day coal mining activity. You can upgrade CoalPrice (Increases the overall price of coal by 1%), TruckSpeed (Increases your truck’s movement speed by 0.5%), while upgrading the ForkLiftSpeed will increase the speed to 0.5% as well. Since you’re just starting out, they’ll be very few upgrades available to you in The Office which you can quickly scale past. 

 

 

Hiring Managers

You can also upgrade and acquire new managers from the office to help you run your coal mining factory. Managers play an integral role in helping your coal mining grow. Without them, your production time will be very slow, eventually making you run out of business in periods of high demand. 

 

So you will need to hire managers and increase your production time by a certain percent. Depending on your level, you will start with level 1 managers who usually extend your production time from 10% to 15%, adding a 5% increase. Managers can be acquired by completing missions and getting rewards-free chests from the shop. 

 

 

Understanding the Shop

This is where players can acquire managers and other items by opening chests from the shop. The first chest is free, which gives you a chance to get three items. These items are random, and if you’re lucky, you can get two managers in a single chest. Free chests guarantee eight managers of level 2.

 

Then we have the rare chests. Rare chests contain cool items and better managers. The free chest rewards players with managers that can increase production time by 5%, while the rare chest rewards you with 15 managers of level 2 that can boost production time to 10-20%, alongside other cool rewards like cash at a price of 60 diamonds. 

 

And lastly, we have the Epic Chests, which costs 150 diamonds. If you buy this, you will be given level 40 managers plus lots of cash. Managers rewarded are usually upgraded halfway. This means if you get a level 20 manager, they will be upgraded to level 10 after you open the chest. It is up to you if you have enough cash and if you wish to upgrade them further. 

 

 

Watching Ads

Despite this game being labeled as an offline game, there are Ads all over the place, but it’s not all bad. You can use these Ads to your advantage by watching them and getting free cash. See the red chopper just standing idle in front of your office; if you click on it, it’ll pop up and offer to watch an Ad and get a VIP bonus. 

 

However, clicking on the chopper sends it to the skies even if you rejected the VIP bonus offer to watch an Ad, but it’ll return to its position shortly, and if you tap on it again, it’ll bring up the same VIP bonus offer. You can only be rewarded for the offer if you log into the game online. And apart from using the chopper, there are a few other offers you will get from the menu screen which will give you rewards for watching Ads. 

 

 

Collecting Stars and moving to new locations

A total of five stars can be seen on the top right corner of the screen in brownish color. These stars represent your progress in the game. You can progress by completing missions, upgrading vehicles, and acquiring new managers. Completing missions helps you upgrade faster, and you are rewarded with diamonds after each completed mission. 

 

The game offers two playable worlds with an unknown region to be unlocked after completing the two previous regions. The first world is the CoalMinePit – an open coal pit that’s located in the east, while the second is the SnowMine – it is located in the north and is the largest coal mine in the world.

If you’re familiar with idle typhoon titles on mobile, in that case, it shouldn’t take you long to get the hang of Coal Mining Inc. It offers very similar gameplay concepts and a brief tutorial that places can easily skim through and jump into the game itself. 

 

The gameplay doesn’t offer a lot compared to other games of the same genre, but it makes it seem fun to mine coals, the process then to be crushed and then sold off, which brings you loads of cash. You also get to hire managers to help you run your factory, which is a plus in the game.
