The Wapendropping Walking Tour This walking tour follows the trail of the weapons that were dropped in De Deelen during the Second World War. Here is the starting point. The end point of the journey is Wirdum, where the weapons were used during the liberation. Why this Walking Tour? This tour was to be held in the commemoration year 2020 of 75 years of liberation, but due to the Corona crisis it has been moved to May 7, 2022. This tour is a special and unique opportunity for young and old to 'experience' the Second World War.

It is more of an experience than a 'quick' walking tour. At the various locations, participants can pause or sit down to witness the events being played and portrayed. We must relive the war over and over again in order to celebrate and appreciate freedom. Unlike a book or a story, the experiences give the participants the feeling: “As I see it now, it really happened. It comes very close, almost on the skin, especially with the youth”.

What is shown on the 10+ experiences has actually happened. There are moments of experience with the theme of 'war' and with the theme of 'liberation'. The events that are shown are based on the book 'Droppingveld Wardrobe' (Weapons in De Deelen)' by Hessel Bouma from 2018.
