Is MapleStory Worth Playing in 2022?

2022-01-28

MapleStory has been the most popular free to play MMO from Nexon, and it has the following cult of casual and hardcore players around the world. It is a 2D side-scrolling game that features cartoony graphics, and there are more than 30 playable characters we can see from the game. The game didn’t fail to keep its first place for popularity until today.

The idea of this game may sound funny, but it is true. This is a side-scrolling game that you consider as an MMO, and the classes here have to be developed with several quests on them.

There are also distributed skills and star points for these classes. And all those have been settled in an online world with thousands of players.

All the features for an MMO are included with MapleStory, and it has access from a side-scrolling platform as well. So, is this MapleStory actually worthy of playing? Being a PC game and holding a unique theme for it, did the game manage to succeed? Let’s review.

Gameplay

At the start of the MapleStory gameplay, players must pick one from its available three factions. Factions are coming with three as the Explorers, Cygnus Knights, and the Aran. Everyone will be associated with their own difficulty level, but we can only advance to level 120.

It can be done while the Aran holds the slowest advancement and a more end game potential to have a 200 maximum level to become more powerful. We see as the coolest feature that all these three factions can be played out differently. The Cygnus Knight is going to play like a traditional MMO class.

When you are in the 10th level, you can become one of 5 classes that have unique spells and skills. Aran will focus on the hero class and will have a combo-based attack. And also, Aran focuses on attacks that will require button inputs, just like the Street Fighter.

The game is thrusting the players for the tutorial, and it will explain everything to them along with the movements, allocations of skill points and more. Generally, it can be daunting if a game has star points to manage. But MapleStory holds a button to auto allocate their points based on the class your character plays.

Story

When talking about the story of this game, it always kicks in after it spends an hour for the player to play it. It becomes problematic when you try to travel from two places.

Huge generic environments are filled with some kind of enemies, and those are the same ones you have encountered from the last two rooms. So the willingness to play can decrease by this factor.

To counter these, we have to explore another aspect of the game, and we don’t know how many there are before it makes us bored of playing the story. This may sometimes not be a great thing for players who work hard to impress.

Characters & Customizations

No one from the characters will be seen as the same. Every character has been detailed finely enough with their customizations.

But there is a turning point here that they are not as detailed as it requires players to spend more time fine-tuning the noses. You will only take a basic choice with your skin colour, face type, colours, and hairstyles.

You will not have colourful yet interesting items to pick with your wardrobe at the beginning. But this can be improved as the game gives you the chance to select items at the later part of the game. So, in the beginning, you just have to customize your look with a few dull shirts and shorts with a basic pair of shoes.

The primary choice that players have to make from this start is selecting their weapon type. And again, just like the wardrobe, you will only have a basic collection to choose from with weapons on your adventure.

Every weapon has its own type of failing and attributes, so we need to choose one from our preferred style for gaming.

Although MapleStory lets us do customizations, it will be better if they all have a vast collection to choose which has a greater potential for the game.

Best Classes of Characters

When talking about the characters, we can see some of the best and most influential characters from MapleStory to beat the bosses. They are designed well with practical skills and abilities. With these characters, the chances are high to beat a battle in advance, and we can generally say that these are the best characters from MapleStory for sure.

  • Night Walker – the first one we see as the best is the Night Walker, and he is the best bossing character with the highest DPS values. MapleStory had done an excellent job creating this class as it is combined with the most powerful weapons to give the strongest output for sure.
  •
  • Dual Blade – Dual Blade is another impressive character done so well by MapleStory as he got the best DPS combined with the best weapons. So Dual Blade can actually deal with great damage as an output with these weapons.

  • Hero – Hero is another character we had our interest in as it is a great warrior made by the game from the explorer branch. This is an excellent bossing class with a more incredible attack speed, and that is enough for a player to be bound with the game. Hero has got such a great performance in the game to attack players.

When we talk about overall performances, the best-unfunded class from MapleStory is the Dawn Warriors. They are the warrior class from Cygnus Knights, and the game has designed all of those five with beginner and unfunded friendly stats for gameplay. Overall, they can deal with significant damage, have a good flash, and are very mobile with side and upward dash dumps.

Family System

There is a family system associated with MapleStory, which we find more interesting. There, the experienced players can register themselves as mentors and take the newest players who enter the game under their wind. So basically, experienced players are taking new players into their families.

Through this system, new players are being supported by earning rep and levels that exchange for the entitlements. Entitlements will add more stat buffs, doubling the loot drops, doubling XP, and even letting all the players teleport into another family member, depending on their choices.

The Controls

Controls from MapleStory are not that hard to understand as it only has two essential buttons with arrows. And then, it is up to the players to equip their actions, attacks and items to other buttons with their keyboard. All those can be set based on your most comfortable positions with personal use.

Combat

Combat from the game is so simple with MapleStory, and it is also satisfying to the players. But there are some annoyances as well. The combat revolves around the multiple pressing of the attack button and using different skills.

The very first annoyance will happen when you perform an attack. It has a slight delay warp around these attacks, and sometimes these attacks are not going to be registered when pressed. Picking up the items should not register as it asks.

MapleStory comes in two versions, one for windows and another for mobile platforms. It requires so much equipment with so many requirements in a PC to play. But the mobile version is greater than this PC version as it has soothing and great gameplay to be acquired with less equipment. So basically, MapleStory’s mobile version is much greater than the PC version.

But if you still need to play it on a PC, no problem. You can play the MapleStory mobile version by using an emulator LDPlayer as it allows you to run mobile games on a computer in the smoothest and most advanced way for great gameplay. And most importantly, it is the best android emulator that any low-end PC user can use as it has the best adjustments.

Conclusion

So this is the ultimate review of the PC version of MapleStory, and you can give it a try to play it by LDPlayer. Feel the significant difference between the mobile version and its PC version, and you will surely love the gaming exposure you can feel by gaming through LDPlayer.
