Great app. Easy to use, navigate, and search. Extensive catalog. Separate brands under one roof: HBO, Cinemax, DC, and other brands. Extensive selection of movies, series, and documentaries. They have the full HBO Original Programming library and the full DC/DCEU catalog. The app loads quickly and the video playback is smooth and fast in high definition. Overall, no complaints and it's one of the better service providers for streaming content.
It's unreal how poorly optimized this platform is for how large of a company it represents. Max has arguably the best selection of shows and movies atm and yet you can't go 2 episodes without running into problems. It frequently takes multiple attempts to open without crashing, it has unadjustable subtitles that take up so much of the screen that it isn't worth having them on. It forgets what shows you watch so you have to search for the show and episode every time you open the app.
This app would be great, if it wasn't so poorly optimized and bug riddled, especially when the app's picture-in-picture mode is enabled. Oftentimes inputs become completely unresponsive, to the point where it is a struggle to exit the app. The Max app has gone as far as to crash other apps I have running in the background, and even force my phone's OS to crash and restart.
