With the upcoming challenging contents coming to Fate/Grand Order, players needs to understand some of the most important mechanics in the game in terms of upgrading servants in order to fully take advantage of all of exploits in order to not only conserve as much materials as possible but also to strengthen their servants roster as much as possible.

Leveling Up Servants

Leveling up servants is one of the core upgrading mechanics to boost your servants’ combat abilities and allow you to not only improve their stats but help them to become stronger through enabling a servants’ ascension mechanics.

In order to upgrade servants, players will need a large amount of EXP cards known simply as Embers, with the rarity of Embers going from 1* Embers to 5* Embers. It is important to note that players should only use 4* Embers and above in order to upgrade characters as they give servants the most amount of EXPs possible. In addition, if the EXP Embers Given matches with the servants’ class, the servant will receive 1.5 the amount of EXPs normally given through that rarity of Embers.

Ascension

Servants Skills

Most of the servants in the game will have a total of 3 available skills, with skill 1 being available right away when you get the servant, skill 2 being unlocked after the servant has been ascended to ascension stage 1 and the 3rd skill being unlocked at ascension stage 3. Each of these skills have levels that can be increased from level 1 to level 10, with each level requiring a large amount of materials to be spent in order to level them up.

A servant’s skill is extremely important to their combat viability and not only is one of the deciding factors of whether a servant is usable but is also the most defining factor that sets apart different servants from each other to fill different roles in the battle. Therefore, having servants at 10/10/10 skill levels are extremely crucial to many servants in order to fully unlock their potential in many fights.

 

However, servant skills leveling can be extremely costly with the materials and QP cost increasing exponentially the higher the level and the higher the rarity of the servant. Not to mention, at the last step from level 9 to 10 players will need to spend a limited premium currency known as Crystallized Lore that can only be obtained through challenging in-game contents and other special events. Therefore, players need to understand the importance of each of the servant’s skills that they are leveling up and be conservative with their materials when leveling up servants’ skills.

Palingenesis (Grailing)

Palingenesis or Grailing is a kind of over investment in Fate/Grand Order as by spending an extremely premium currency known as the Holy Grail, players can further unlock the level cap of servants and level them up even further, helping to boost the servants’ stats even more. However, as the amount of Holy Grails a player can get is extremely dependent on the amount of events they have cleared and the amount of time they have played the game, players should only use this system on servants that they really like or if they really want to boost that servants’ combat abilities even more.

A servant can be grailed up to level 100 by spending 1 grail for every 2 levels increase from level 90 to 100 and 1 grail for every 5 level increase from lv 65 to level 90. If players want to level them up even further by grailing, players will need to spend the special currency of Servants Coin that can only be obtained through obtaining extra copies of the servant or by increasing their bond level by using them in combat stages. However, it is extremely important to note that grailing a servant to level 100 is already a very costly endevor, let alone grailing them to level 120. Therefore, players should only consider grailing to level 120 for their favorite servants in the game.

Craft Essences

The final and one of the most important parts of Fate/Grand Order gameplay as they offer the final push to servants when equipping them on the battlefield to help boost their combat abilities even more and offer the servants many beneficial and necessary buffs.
