In this game you will have to help the main character, Sofia, to find a missing girl. You'll do this by interacting with various characters, examining locations, and browsing a fictitious social media for information. Finding out the truth, however, will be difficult! This is because you will not be at all sure that you can trust other people's information and even your own memory and interpretations of facts! However, you cannot afford the luxury of not intervening: time passes and you have to make decisions even if in uncertainty. Will you be able to find her before it's too late?SO.F.I.A stands for Social Media and Faces of Artificial Intelligence. It is a short educational game of about 40 minutes funded by the University of Turin as part of the "AI Aware" public engagement project through the collaboration of the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Humanities. Its purpose is to disseminate, in a fun and accessible way, the research and discoveries of the University of Turin on the theme of our relationship with information in the current social context. A context characterized by the strong influence of intelligence and artificial faces in our way of interpreting reality and, consequently, in what we believe and in the decisions we make.
Through critical and experiential design, the players of SO.F.I.A. they will experience firsthand this characteristic uncertainty of daily life in 2022 and will have to find strategies for themselves to distinguish the true from the false. In fact, only after the end of the game will the solution be revealed and all the "traps" present in the game that realistically reflect the risks associated with communication in contemporary society will be explained.
