Honey in the Qur'an and As-Sunnah
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says: "And your Lord revealed to the bees, 'Make nests in the hills, in the trees, and in places made by humans! 'Then eat from every (sort of) fruit and walk the path of your Lord which has been made easy (for you)! From the belly of the bee comes a drink (honey) of various colors, in which there is a medicine that heals humans. Verily, in that there is a sign (of Allah's greatness) for those who reflect." (QS. An-Nahl: 68-69).
Allah Ta'ala has glorified honey by making it a drink for the inhabitants of heaven, "And the rivers of filtered honey. And they find in it all kinds of fruits and forgiveness from their Lord….” (QS. Muhammad: 15).
Rasulullah said: "If there is good in your healing, then it is in hijamah or drinking honey or stinging fire. But I don't like the kay (burning with a hot iron) method." (Sahih hadith issued by al-Bukhari and Muslim. See Silsilah al-Ahadith Ash-Shahihah, hadith no. 245).
In Sahih al-Bukhari, from Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of Allah said: "Healing is found in three things, (namely) cupping, drinking honey or kayy (treatment by forcing a burnt iron). But I forbade my people to do kayy.” (Al-Bukhari [no. 5680 and 5681], Fathul Bari [X/143].
In ash-Shahihain from Aisha, that the Prophet liked sweet things, especially honey. (Al-Bukhari [no. 5682], Muslim [no. 1474], Fathul Bari [X/81].
