Fiqh of Grants and Inheritance
Bismillaahirrahmaanirrahim. All praise be to Allah SWT, the Lord of the worlds. Blessings and greetings may be bestowed upon His Majesty the Prophet Muhammad SAW, his family, noble companions and his loyal followers.
Allah SWT says:
Those are the provisions of Allah. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, Allah will admit him to gardens in which rivers flow, while they will abide therein forever; and that's a big win.
And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and violates His provisions, Allah will surely put him in the fire of hell while he will remain therein forever; and for him is a humiliating torment. (QS. An-Nisa' : 13-14)
Fourteen centuries ago, Rasulullah SAW had warned about the occurrence of a situation where the knowledge of faraidh was lost among the people.
From Ibn Mas'ud radhiyallahuanhu that Rasulullah SAW said, "Learn the Koran and teach it to people. And learn the science of faraidh and teach it to people. Because I am only a human who will die. And the inheritance will be revoked then slander spreads , to the extent that there are two people who are fighting over inheritance but can't find anyone who can answer it". (Narrated by Ad-Daruquthuny and Al-Hakim)
The loss of the knowledge of faraidh that was reminded by Rasulullah SAW before, is now almost proven. Isn't this science of faraidh being taught less and less, and fewer and fewer preachers who understand and are able to teach it to Muslims.
As a Muslim, of course we have to learn this knowledge. However, there are still many of us who cannot distinguish between inheritance and grants. Even though these two sciences are very important to learn.
Therefore, with the intention of helping each other in matters of religion, we have compiled a brief review of inheritance and grants in this book. Hope it is useful.
