With the Massively successful update in the form of the special Across The Ruined Sea Update patch, a brand new special game mode have been implemented into the game as a form as challenge contents for all players to enjoy even if they don’t have fully built Constructs in the form of the brand new Curse Waves Roguelike Game Mode. In this game mode, players will be able to participate in various randomly generated battles, obtaining special relics that buff the combat performance of Constructs they have recruited for free and receive a massive amount of rewards by clearing a certain number of runs through the labyrinth of the Curse Waves.

Punishing Gray Raven Brand New Game Mode - Curse Waves

What Is Curse Waves

Newly introduced in the brand new Punishing Gray Raven update patch Across The Ruined Sea, Curse Waves is a brand new roguelike Game Mode in Punishing Gray Raven that is available for all players who have cleared the main story of the game up until a certain point.

 

The main point of this new game mode is for all players to recruit Constructs up for grab in the game mode itself in order to build them up and form teams in order to clear the entirety of a run within the Curse Wave Mode in order to obtain special game mode exclusive currencies and increase the point in the point ladder in order to exchange for and obtain special rewards in the point ladder.

Constructs Recruitment

At the start of every run within the Curse Waves Game Mode, players will start by recruiting special Constructs available in order to add them into the players’ roster, the Constructs available for each recruitment is randomly generated and each time, players can only recruit 1 out of the 3 Constructs up for selection. In addition, players will have 1 chance to reset the 3 Constructs available 1 time during each Recruitment period.

Once recruited, players will be able to use that Construct for the entire run through the Curse Waves Game Mode. However, it is important to note that, once players have chosen a Construct, if players have already had that Construct in their usual Construct roster and have them built, players can choose between using their own Construct or using the borrowed Construct available during the game mode.

Encounters

Once entering the Curse Waves game mode, players will be treated with a selection screen of 3 different options for every move they make, with each option providing players with a different encounter with various effects. These Encounters are randomly generated and will differ each run the players do, regardless of difficulties. 

The effect of these encounters ranges from combat encounters, story encounters, occurrence encounters and more, each with their own effects and rewards based on the encounter players decided to choose.

Occurrences And Relics

Occurrences Encounters are special encounters that requires players to pick a choice between 2 and more options in order to proceed in the Encounter and clear it, after choosing the right options based on the clues provided in the story and text displayed, players will be able to obtain special items exclusive to this game mode known as Relics.

 

Relics are special items that is only available and take effect only during the current run of Cursed Waves that provide the players with special buffs to their combat abilities including increasing the power of individual Constructs, buffing the damage potential of certain Constructs Elements and even unlock special skills and move available for specific Constructs that players have added into their roster during the run.

 

These Relics ranges from Ability Boost Items, which boost the Constructs overall ability and stats, Journey’s Provisions, which provide players with special currencies that can be used during the run in order to purchase more buffs, recruit new Constructs to the team or obtain special relics. Special Boosts Relics allows players to obtain extremely powerful buffs that will aid them immensely during their expeditions, and finally, Event Treasures are special relics that can be obtained throughout the different choices in Occurences Encounters to unlock special passives for Constructs and some event have special effects that affect the overall path that the player will take during a run.

Event Missions 

During each run of Cursed Waves, players will need to have completed the run to a certain point and reach a checkpoint in order to complete different missions available in the game mode. With each mission completed, players will be rewarded with a special event currency that they can spend to upgrade various aspects of the Curses Waves game mode in order to boost their points earning and exchange the currencies for event rewards from the point ladder.

Event Rewards And Point Ladder

Once players have completed runs of the brand new mode Curse Waves, they will be able to obtain special items that they can then exchange for special event points at the end of each run. These points will accumulate gradually and increase the special point ladder, allowing players to reach special milestones to obtain special event exclusive rewards including Special R&D Tickets to be used on limited summoning banners, character upgrading materials, CUB upgrading materials, Memory Overclocking and Hypertuning materials and more.

Punishing Gray Raven Cursed Waves Game Mode - Tips and Tricks

In order to quickly receive all of the rewards available in the newly released Cursed Waves Game Mode, here are some important tips and tricks players should take into account when attempting the mode.

Build Several Different Elemental Teams

During the recruitment period of the game mode, players should diversify their team composition with multiple different Constructs that are able to deal different elemental damage. This is to ensure that players won’t encounter a difficult Encounter that completely negates the damage of a specific element, rendering the players’ team damage extremely low, resulting in players unable to clear the encounter.

Focus On Recruiting S Rank Constructs And Healers

The key to success in Cursed Waves is survivability, therefore, it is important that players focus on recruiting S Rank Constructs with each recruitment opportunity they get. In addition, players should put heavy emphasis on recruiting at least 1 good Healer Type Construct as they will be the players’ life line in many different challenge stages.

Use Your Own Constructs At The Start

If you are a veteran player who have built many different Constructs already, it is quite important that you use your own built Constructs as it is not only more familiar for players to use their own Constructs, it is also extremely beneficial since Borrowed Constructs are extremely limited in terms of built and level, making it more difficult to clear the challenge stages.

Build Team Of Constructs Of The Same Faction

Within the game mode, when players have recruited certain number of Constructs of the same Faction such as Gray Raven Squad, Strike Hawk Squad, … the players will receive a special buff to those Constructs in the same faction, boosting their combat prowess and stats even more, allowing for easier runs and better progress and rewards in the game mode.
