2021-08-01

Call of Duty: Mobile, the upcoming Season 6 is just near, and the developers have shared the latest community update of this season. The latest version adds three new seasonal challenges, ground mission, credit store update, and much more.  Activision has introduced two new seasonal challenges in the game, i.e., Sawed-off Shenanigans and Board of Honor.

COD Mobile Shorty Shotgun Intro

Shorty Overview:

To unlock Shorty, you need to complete one of the Seasonal Events: Sawed-Off Shenanigans in Season 5 2021. Here is how you can get a free Shorty gun in COD Mobile from the new seasonal event, Sawed-off Shenanigans, along with all the list of other rewards.

Why is Shorty so unique and so different? It's a shotgun, but it is equipped in a secondary weapon slot like a pistol or rocket launcher. Introducing Shorty Shotgun is the first time the developers have done something like this.  Shorty is a double-barrel secondary shotgun leaked a while ago in Call of Duty Mobile, and now, it's finally in the game ripe for the picking. It is a sawed-off shotgun that is lethal at close range. Snipers will find the Shorty to be highly dependable when players push them with automatic weapons.

If you are also intrigued by the Shorty gun, you can unlock it along with other rewards of Sawed-off Shenanigans seasonal events by completing simple missions.

Shorty Event Missions and rewards:

The sawed-off Shenanigans will run until the end of COD: Mobile Season 5, so be sure to finish the event before the season ends. Shorty Shotgun is the second weapon players can earn in Season 5 following the CR-56 AMAX assault rifle acquired by reaching Tier 21 of the free Battle Pass. To unlock this weapon, however, players will have to complete the Sawed-Off Shenanigans Seasonal Event.

Damage and Pellets – Whenever you shoot the weapon, eight pellets are ejected from the weapon. Each pallet does 28 damage initially and then 20 damage till 7 meters. The pellet pattern is like a pentagon where there are five bullets on the perimeter and three bullets inside it, and these three bullets hit close to where you are aiming. If you aim at an enemy, these three bullets usually hit the enemy, and if we get a hit marker, it is because these three bullets hit, but the rest didn’t. Because of this pentagon spread at the range, we will miss most of these pellets since the enemies are smaller in size.

COD Mobile Shorty Shotgun Pellete Spread

Due to this reason, you will need to play close quarters to get the most out of this gun where the enemy is large enough for you to get 1-shot-1-kill. Your effective range is 7-8 meters because that is where you can consistently 1-shot enemies. You can enhance it further depending on your build. Your damage is also spread evenly across the body, and only headshots deal extra damage, which is 1.2 times.

Reload – The Shorty can fire two shots before we need to reload, making it a high-risk weapon. High risk comes from the fact that you will instantly kill the enemy if you get 1shot 1 kill. But if you miss the 1-shot, then your second shot kill will be 350ms apart, which is slow, and most guns will kill you in close range before you can fire the second shot. Eventually, this isn't essential as either you kill or get killed, and having faster reload speed won't help there. The only solace you can have from this is if you get to kill your enemy, you can pick up their gun and go from there.

ADS – Being a secondary weapon, it has good mobility stats, and your ADS speed is 11 frames which are faster than even SMGs like qq9, QXR, or Fennec. Your sprint to fire speeds is a bit concerning since we have 11 frames for Hip-fire and seven frames for ADS. These are a bit slower, so you need to be using attachments to improve this. Your movement speed and ADS movement speed are pretty fast, so that you can reload in 1.7s with no chance of reload-canceling. Usually, you could reload Cancel guns much quicker, but for Shorty, there is no chance, and we can use Sleight of Hand perk to mitigate that.

XP – Players can further enhance the weapon stats and upgrade them by using the weapon XP card.

Shorty Loadouts:

Let’s talk about Gunsmith builds. There aren't many varieties with this gun because Shorty, as we always have to play close quarters, and due to the pellet spread, even if we try to play even a little range, we hit the marker instead of getting a kill.

Build 1:

So to mitigate the distance and spread issues, we can begin with Laser; the best approach is to start with a 5mW laser. 5mW is not for improving the hip-fire accuracy as what the hip-fire Laser improves is the Sprint to Fire delay. For playing close quarters, the Shorty has slow STF, and that's why we need the hip-fire Laser for improving it.

Marauder’s suppressor is critical here for this build. It is here to increase the range of this Shotgun, making it viable even for longer range combat, necessary when using this gun. The next best thing in the Muzzle attachment class is the choke, but still, Marauder is the best n slot. OWC Stable is here for the versatility in this build.

The Under Barrel we use for this build is a tactical foregrip as this will improve the bullet spread when we ADS and shoot. If you want to get kills consistently, get into the habit of ADS and shooting because hip-fire is inconsistent.

With these four attachments, we have a consistent 10m 1-shot-1-kill which is good. We will usually use the speed up after kill for the mobility boost after getting a kill for the final attachment.

These are the most appropriate Shorty attachments which can be built to improve ADS Bullet Spread accuracy, increasing the damage range to make it more practical.

Note #1: If you feel like you are reloading slow, you can swap Stock attachment with Perk: Sleight of Hand.

Note #2: If you are grinding for the event with the gun, replace Under barrel attachment with the Perk: Full Ammo and use Vulture perk.

Since shotguns don't have an extension slot for optic, under-barrel, and ammunition counterparts, we recommend every player to pair Shorty with the attachments mentioned above to get the most out of it. You can use the Combat stock for better ADS speed, but that can reduce the efficiency of the bullet spread. Steady Stock is the safest option here.

COD Mobile Shorty Shotgun Combat Stock

Steady Stock makes the ADS movement a bit slower, but we require the ADS just for a moment. We ADS, take the shot, and then ADS out. Our regular ADS movement will do fine, and we have better bullet spread accuracy too. Our 1-shot-1-kill is elongated too till around 12m which is excellent and makes the Shorty a bit more versatile. You would still need a good aim as 12m is a bit inconsistent if you don’t aim well, we have up to 11m for consistency.

You can try this build with Steady Stock; otherwise, change the Stock with Sleight of Hand or Speed up after Kill Perk. Similarly, you can use the Tactical Laser here for improving ADS Speed and BSA further. Tactical Laser is mainly for ADS builds as it doesn’t improve Hip-fire much.

Don't use the 500 round Slug on this; it's just not worth it. Even though it says it increases the damage, but instead, it's the other way around. That's because the spread you're going to get will have fewer bullets per spread, so it will be harder to hit your shots. Also, you have to use it as an SKS, so you need to keep tapping it each time as it doesn’t fire like if you keep holding the button.

Shorty Perks:

Perks

Description

Lightweight

Sprinting speed is increased by 10%, and fall damage is significantly reduced.

Quick Fix

Gun, Melee kills immediately starts health regeneration.

Hard-line

Increase points earned from killing enemies by 25%.

Perks mentioned in the table above are the best Shorty perk class. It helps to improve your overall mobility, getting health back after winning a gunfight, and increases points for your scorestreak. We can use Sleight of Hand since we can’t reload-cancel with Shorty so that we can get faster reloads with It. Quite a few numbers of players are using it in this build. We can always go to safety to use this Perk, but it still isn't that viable. You can use Optics if you'd like, but it isn't that necessary since the base iron sights are excellent.

Shorty Skins:

Weapon skins added visual beauty to your firearm and changed the look depending on the rarity and Tier. Shorty skin in Call of Duty Mobile is:

The Last Resort is a Legendary skin that you can unlock in Omnipotent Draw.

Conclusion:

The Shorty is a break-action double-barrel sawed-off shotgun. However, what sets this weapon apart from all of the shotguns is that it is a secondary weapon suitable for close quarters. As such, players can take it as a backup to an assault rifle, sniper, SMG, or marksman rifle in the game. They can even carry a primary shotgun as the main weapon if they want. As with any shotgun, the Shorty offers a very high level of damage at close range. The weapon can usually make quick work of opponents in close quarters. However, this is balanced out with the fact that the weapon has minimal capacity. For most people, the pistol would be a better option.

The problem with this gun is that you have for now only two options for ammunitions slot. Either you can not put anything there, or you can put Slug Reload in that slot. This attachment increases the damage range and shoots fewer pellets. Slug Reload makes it a more targeted shot than a spread, know for regular shotguns. The second issue with this gun is the two only ammo available to you, so this gun can not be used as the primary weapon. You want to take a longer-range gun with you when fighting in any mode with this gun. Using the Slug Reload increases its range a little bit more so that equipped with Marauder's Suppressor can remove its penalty of the range.
