Kai Toxis, a powerful mage, has long been aware of the threat the Great-grandfather Dog poses to the city of Gloomridge.
He erected his castle on top of the city and created wells of pure magical energy to protect the city.
The great-grandfather of the Dog knew that the wells not only protected the city, but also fed Kai with life energy, and he sent his henchmen to destroy the wells and deprive Kai of his source of power.
