Interpretation of Al-Baqarah 183 - 184
O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may be pious.
What is meant by 'believers' here are those who are Muslim, namely that obligations are imposed on those who embrace Islam. Meanwhile, those who do not embrace Islam, such as infidels, are not among those who are obliged to do fasting.

However, if it is stated that disbelievers are not obliged to fast while they are in this world, it does not mean that later in the hereafter they will not have to be held accountable for their deeds.
The scholars believe that the disbelievers, although in this world are not required to fast during Ramadan, their sins are still counted as people who leave the obligatory fast. The more they go through the month of Ramadan, the greater the sins of leaving fasting they bear.
As a result, if an infidel dies at an old age, it is likely that he will experience more severe punishment than an infidel who dies young. Because the number of obligations that he left was far less. Then the sins are lighter.
