Fasting is one of the fundamental obligations of a Muslim that is universal. Every year Muslims welcome the arrival of the fasting month, which is also known as Ramadan. The previous ummah before the prophethood of Muhammad saw. have also received orders to fast. as stated in the Qur'an:
"O you who believe. It is obligatory upon you to fast as it was obligatory upon the people before you so that you will be pious." (QS. Al-Baqarah: 183).
Of course the procedures and provisions that Allah SWT. assigned to each community is different, although there are still similarities here and there.
All of this proves that among fellow divine religions there is indeed a common thread that connects, that is, they both descended from the sky, brought by the noble angel Gabriel alaihissama.
However, a more in-depth discussion of the various provisions in fasting is not something that can be considered unimportant. In fact, the author thinks how much Muslims today still need deeper and more detailed knowledge about fasting law, both for the month of Ramadan in particular, as well as for various other types of fasting.
This book contains a collection of various details about the technicalities and rules of fasting that have been outlined by Allah and His messengers, since 14 centuries ago. The rules are still maintained and are still used by billions of Muslims in various parts of the world.
The author begins the study of the meaning and prescription of fasting, followed by the virtues and wisdom of fasting.
The author tries to convey that legally fasting is not only obligatory, there are also sunnah fasts. In fact, there are fasting that is makruh to the point of being unlawful.
There are various provisions for fasting that have been outlined by Islamic law, starting from legal conditions, mandatory conditions, pillars of fasting, anything that breaks fasting, who is obliged to fast, and who is allowed not to fast, including who is forbidden to fast.
