The Nossa Senhora da Assunção Church in Conjunto Itatiaia, which would become the headquarters of the Parish of the same name, was designed in the early 1980s by the Italian priest Sérgio Foglia. At that time and since the founding of the neighborhood, in 1978, Catholic celebrations took place in homes or at the Urban Social Center and catechesis classes took place at Colégio Estadual Waldemar Mundim.
