Nordhorns Geschichte Description
The app "Nordhorn's history - a digital city tour" conveys the historical development of the water town on the Vechte to guests and locals in an exciting and entertaining way.
The core element of the app is a map with stations (points of interest) placed on it, where various media content is displayed.
In addition to introductions by a virtual city guide, there is an information area for each station that illuminates the historical context of the respective location in a compact and entertaining manner.
The many historical illustrations make the changes in the city particularly clear.
The two churches in the city center, the Old Church on the market and the St. Augustus Church, can also be visited virtually using 360-degree panoramas of the interior.
In other applications, the current cityscape can be supplemented with historical views using augmented reality. This makes buildings visible on site that have long since disappeared, such as the old Lingen gate bridge and the old synagogue, which was tragically destroyed under National Socialism.
The app also entices with city-related games: "Nordhorn Treasures" can be found in an interactive search game; a knowledge quiz motivates you to take part and finally a funny selfie function should not be missing.
