However, the hosts still captured the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1, which is enough to ensure that they remain unmoved from the second position in the WTC points table even if Sri Lanka wins the second Test against New Zealand to make it 1-1.

Notably, for the first time in 20 years, India will clash against Australia in an ICC Men's event final. The last time India was up against Australia in an ICC Men's event final was way back in 2003, during the ODI World Cup Final. This is the second time India made it to the WTC Final.
