IIMS Description
IIMS is a data collection tool for responders at the incident scene. IIMS allows responders to collect the following data:
• incident location (GPS or manual),
• incident type,
• road / lane closure,
• weather condition,
• estimated incident duration,
• incident description,
• pictures and videos.
The data is shared with operation centers, managers, and other responders (IIMS community) to enhance their situational awareness of the incident scene allowing them to dispatch the required resources to clear the incident scene and make the required repairs. This enhances the safety of the responders and the traveling public by reducing the duration of the incident.
IIMS is currently being piloted in upstate New York in the Buffalo and Syracuse metropolitan areas. Users are required to request an IIMS account to have full access to the IIMS Android application.
