This game was a lot of fun and I recommend trying it out. The artwork in particular is excellent, with a huge cast of interesting and diverse characters and varied environments. It's a match-3 game so the rules are quick to learn and is ideal to play in short bursts. There are no adverts unless you choose to view them to revive your character, which is a huge rarity in a game with production values as high as this. I can't give the game five stars though as the game play lacks the depth I would have liked to see. At first it seems like you have a lot of options, with upgrade systems for both your knight and the weapons he uses, varying elemental alignment for the enemies you face. Unfortunately though, you will always have to play the game the same way. You are completely at the mercy of the randomness of the tiles. It's no coincidence that when you are up against an elemental enemy the tiles that best oppose them are in short supply. On later levels you will find yourself losing often because there aren't enough shield tiles and the enemies can kill you in 1 or 2 strikes. You can't opt to skip a go so are often forced to use tiles earlier than you want to. You will sometimes face two enemies at once but you can only target the front one, whilst they can both attack you. There's so many different weapons and enemies, but other than their appearance they all behave the same way. It feels like a huge missed opportunity given how much variety there is in everything. The saving grace is the spells that allow you to deal extra damage or shield yourself for multiple turns. It's just a shame that these are single-use and require coins to buy them. Coins can be earned by playing the game but once they're spent they are incredibly difficult to earn back if you are stuck on a level. Unless you open your wallet and pay them, of course! Well, it was to be expected - the developers do have to make money somehow. I'd love to see a sequel that adds the depth to the game play that I was so hopeful of and that matches how wonderful the game is in every other way. I'd pay for that.

A lot of fun. Too many ads. Ads are optional but necessary unless you are willing to pay. The game has frozen more than a dozen times when I chose to watch the ads for doubling the gold. I am at level 124 and the creature that dwells within has about seven times the hit points of any single creature thus far. There is a trick to get more coins to buy power-ups.
