The present project proposes the use of the global positioning device (GPS) of the mobile phone to carry out a real-time monitoring of the speed in a public transport vehicle. When a bus exceeds a certain preset speed limit, a report will be generated automatically. The report will include information such as the location where the violation was committed, as well as the speed at that time.
In addition, the project allows photographic evidence of a variety of different traffic violations to be captured. It is considered that empowering citizens with a tool that allows collecting evidence of the violations that are committed on a daily basis is an important step to improve the mobility of the city.
Among the most common violations that can be captured are:
- Vehicles parked in prohibited places, or that entail danger.
- Transportation of people on stirrups, steps or buckets of trucks.
- Vehicles that do not respect the red light.
- People on motorcycles without helmets.
- Motorcycles with excess passengers.
- Invasion of roads assigned to public transport.
- Passenger transport buses with open doors.
- Others that users consider important to report.
