Duck's Story
A long time ago, one of Earths greatest scientists woke up and thought to themselves: "how well does a duck fly in space?". This was somebody who could actually find out the answer. The scientist got to work.
12 months later, a duck becomes the newest astronaut to arrive on the Space Station. Shortly thereafter, not only was the duck the world's most recent viral video thanks to its ability to manoeuvre in zero gravity better than humans but it was about to go on its very first spacewalk!
The question scientists wanted to answer - how well would a duck fly in space? Stood calmly in the airlock with a specially made space suit attached by a hook to the space station, the duck was ready to go where no duck had gone before.
The problem was that nobody ever considered whether the duck would actually be happy in space. The duck was not happy in space. As soon as the airlock doors opened, the duck nipped at the hook until there was no longer a connection between the duck and the space station and begun to flap its wings - a move it had been taught to get the suits jetpack to work.
The blast from the jetpack was so powerful, it knocked a large amount of spare fuel tanks into space alongside the duck. The duck was now the fastest duck alive! It flew out of the airlock and into the calmness of space, soaring high above every other duck and looking forward to re-joining their friends down below.
As duck approached the earth's atmosphere, primed to re-join their friends, it saw a piece of space junk re-enter the earth's atmosphere and burn up into nothing. Duck didn't want that! Duck wanted to live. Duck wanted to be free. Duck flapped its wings as hard as it could, causing the jetpack to launch it into higher orbit.
But then duck saw more space junk just flying out into the everything and the nothingness of space. Duck didn't want that, either! Duck was left with no other choice; Duck just had to continue flying carefully until duck could fly no more - collecting fuel tanks where possible and avoiding fast moving space junk as necessary. At least duck knew they could fly, free. Maybe the space station would come back and save duck. Maybe?
