Immigration Polytechnic (Poltekim) is an official education under the auspices of the Ministry of Law & Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. This polytechnic was established in 1962 and was stopped for a while before being functioned again in 2000. POLTEKIM aims to produce future leadership cadres within the Directorate General of Immigration and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights where graduates will be placed in all immigration offices in Indonesia and/or at immigration representatives abroad.
The establishment of this academy was stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Law and Legislation of the Republic of Indonesia, number: M.08-DL.01-05 of 2000 concerning Guidelines for Teaching, Training and Care at the Immigration Academy. The decision explained that in the education process at the Immigration Academy there are three parts of education, namely teaching, training, and care. Teaching at POLTEKIM is an educational effort in the form of lectures, lectures and in-class instructions with the aim of acquiring, deepening and expanding academic knowledge and knowledge in the formation of the personality of Poltekim cadets with an emphasis on aspects of intelligence and intellectual ability. The training aims to form cadets so that they have the ability and mastery of knowledge about immigration, based on strong personality and leadership, with an emphasis on skills aspects that refer to professionalism. Parenting aims to form cadets so that they have the ability to live and practice cultural values and master academic knowledge with a strong personality and leadership, with an emphasis on the mental aspect of fighting. For graduates of the Immigration Academy who have graduated, they will receive an Immigration Officer Brevet (PI) and immediately take part in the Civil Servant Investigator Education (PPNS) at the Police Research and Criminal Education Center in Cisarua, Bogor.
