Lu Zu, that is, Lu Dongbin among the Eight Immortals of Taoism. His original name was Lu Yan and his nickname was Chunyangzi. He was regarded as the Patriarch of Chunyang by the Quanzhen Taoist Sect. He was called Lu Zu in his old life. Together with Guanyin Bodhisattva and Guan Gong, he was known as the "Three Great Gods". Before Lu Zu became an immortal, he lived in the world. He met Zhong Li Quan by chance in a Chang'an tavern. He realized that Huang Liang was in a dream, so he realized it and sought his salvation. After Mr. Zhong Li's guidance, he practiced alchemy and became an immortal. He was very kind and charitable, helped those in danger and the poor, and was deeply loved by the people. After his ascension, the people in his hometown built the "Lv Gong Temple" in memory of him.

In the late Northern Song Dynasty, the belief and worship of Lu Zu began to flourish. In the first year of Xuanhe (1119), Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty granted Lu Zu the title of Miaotong Zhenren. In the Southern Song Dynasty, there were temples dedicated to Lu Zu and statues were enshrined there. In the Jin Dynasty, because Lu Dongbin believed in Taoism, he changed the "ancestral temple" to "guan". In the sixth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1269), Emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty commended Chunyang to play Zhengjinghuazhenjun. In the third year of Emperor Wuzong's reign in the Yuan Dynasty (1310), he was granted the title Chunyang Yan Zhengjing Hua Fuyou Emperor. The birthday of God Lu Zu is April 14. On this day, many Taoist believers go to the Lu Zu Hall in Taoist temples to burn incense and offer sacrifices, or to fulfill their wishes or pray. It is widely believed among the Chinese in South China and Southeast Asia that Lu Zu’s signatures were signed. In times of emergency, they would often go to the statue of Lu Zu in front of the temple to seek fortune-telling and pray for divine revelation.

Among the people, Lu Dongbin is a deity who is well known to women and children. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, Lu Dongbin and seven other deities have been called the Eight Immortals. They are the Eight Immortals praised by people of all generations, and Lu Dongbin ranks first among the eight immortals. "Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty" contains more than 200 poems by Lu Dongbin. Later Taoists and people called him the Immortal of Swords, the Immortal of Wine, and the Immortal of Poetry. To this day, there are many ancestral temples across the country where people offer sacrifices every year, and the incense continues to this day.

The Lv Zuling Lotus is used for fortune-telling and divination in the Lü Zu Ancestral Temple. It can be used to predict the passing of time, marriage, illness, wealth, fame, studies, lawsuits, family residence, and fortune. There are one hundred lots in total.
