ARR Description
The app was created to assist the physician in screening primary hyperaldosteronism, a common cause of arterial hypertension, providing the calculation of ARR (Aldosterone-Renin Ratio).
This is possible starting from the different units of measurement of both renin (plasma renin activity, PRA, or active renin concentration, DRC) and plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC), provided by different laboratories. By also including the potassium values, the app also provides an estimate of the patient's individual probability of having the surgically curable form of primary aldosteronism, aldosteronoma.
Some essential information for an appropriate use of the ARR is also provided.
