Leaving prayer is a great laziness of the great sins, and Abu Hanifa, Malik and Al-Shafi’i went that whoever leaves the prayer negligently in its performance is judged to be debauchery and disobedience, and to this opinion the money of most of the predecessors and the successor, and they relied on several evidences, including the Almighty’s saying: (God does not forgive that he associates And He forgives what is less than that to whom He wills. And whoever associates partners with God has forged a grievous sin.)
Based on the meaning of the verse; Leaving prayer out of laziness is classified below the belief’s major shirk, but it remains a major sin, and its perpetrator is referred to God. With them, he did not waste anything from them because he disregarded their right. He had a covenant with God that He would admit him to Paradise, and whoever did not bring them, he has no covenant with God. If He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will admit him to Paradise.
As for what is well-known in the school of thought according to Imam Ahmad and other scholars, such as Ibn Al-Mubarak, Ishaq bin Rahawayh, and Al-Qayrawani, one of the greats of the Maliki school of thought and others, that the one who abandons prayer negligently regarding it and lazily about performing it is considered an infidel, and among what they relied on in that was the hadith of the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace -: (The Covenant What separates us and them is the prayer, so whoever abandons it has disbelieved.”
