In 2014, the 5-ball billiards carom game was developed by the Royal Netherlands Billiards Federation (KNBB) and implemented with the company Saluc/Aramith. With simple rules and a quick sense of achievement, it promised an easy introduction to the sport of carom billiards, especially for beginners.

In 2023, after intensive analysis, we then further developed the five-ball game together with BC 1921 Elversberg e.V., supplemented and expanded the rules and added further game variants such as freely selectable series play, 1-cushion and 3-cushion.

These extensions were based on the observation that the original rules were not particularly well received, especially by experienced players, and also that the interaction of experienced players with beginners was rarely fun.

In addition, many players found it noticeably difficult to calculate the points played per shot in their heads, which often led to discussions and game cancellations. In order to absorb all this and to optimize the fun of this still quite young discipline of carom billiards for everyone, we then developed an app for iOS and Android - the FIVE-BALL SCORING APP - specially tailored to our variant of FIVE-BALL CARAMBOL.

This app is not a game in the strict sense, but a smart tool that accompanies the players or teams at the carambol table and guides them through the game or tournament.

To play FIVE-BALL CARAMBOL in your own club, you need - besides a carambol table - a special ball set of the Saluc brand Aramith (5 numbered balls made of phenolic resin, 61,5 mm, 210 g). Purchase options for these balls are indicated in the app.

For clubs, which would like to offer our FIVE-BALL-CARAMBOL together with our FIVE-BALL SCORING-APP, and the one or other interested sponsor, we have already included space and possibilities as well as a game location area in the app, in which interested clubs or sponsors can introduce themselves and offer own locations or tools for the FIVE-BALL-GAME.
