Introduction of Inner Skills

Inner Skills are diverse martial arts techniques scattered throughout the world of Sword of Justice, obtainable via exploration, dungeons, and other activities. Each Inner Skill comprises 1 unique trait, 1 primary attribute, and several random secondary attributes.

Inner Skill Rarity

Inner Skill rarity tiers in-game are:

Blue < Red < Purple < Gold.

Players can distinguish quality by background color and the number of elemental affinities contained.

Beyond these tiers, Gold Inner Skills labeled "Rare" represent the highest rarity, possessing more potent exclusive Aura Effects.

Acquisition methods of the Inner Skill will be detailed later.

Meridian Cycle

Elements

Inner Skills are categorized into five elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth.

Each skill harbors identical or differing elements:

  • Gold Skills: 5 elements
  • Purple Skills: 4 elements
  • Blue Skills: 3 elements

Each element corresponds to a buff, for example, Water boosts healing.

As players level up, they may equip up to five Inner Skills.

Meridian Cycle: Elemental Resonance

Among the Inner Skills you equip, every set of four identical elements forms a Meridian Cycle. The Cycle is a kind of elemental resonance. Completing a cycle unlocks a corresponding passive skill. Since there are five elements in total, each yields a different passive effect when forming a cycle.

The optimal element to prioritize depends on your chosen class and its specific role in combat.

Taking the Sylph as an example: As the game’s sole dedicated healer/support, prioritize Water, Wood, or Earth elements for Cycle Resonance. Each Inner Skill type has unique passive traits, but Resonance should focus on these three elements.

Tips:

Since each Inner Skill in the game contains up to five elemental types, and every four identical elements form one Meridian Cycle—with a maximum of three cycles per element—stacking multiple cycles of the same element yields stronger passive effects than forming a single, mixed cycle.

As a result, players can optimally complete cycles for up to two elemental types at most.

Inner Skills Acquisition

Inner Skills can be acquired through a wide variety of in-game activities. Almost every type of content—whether it's events, dungeons, or treasure chest exploration—offers a chance to obtain them.

That said, Inner Skills found in treasure chests during map exploration are typically low-quality blue or red-tier ones, which are best used as upgrade materials.

To obtain gold-tier Inner Skills, players should focus primarily on weekly dungeons and various in-game shop exchanges. Below is a detailed breakdown of how to acquire gold Inner Skills:

  • Rank Rewards

Both combat and leisure modes offer identical tier rewards. Reaching Lapis Tier I grants a Rare Inner Skill Chest (random rare skill), while Master Tier I awards a Self-Select Rare Inner Skill Chest.

Approximately four chests are obtainable per season.

  • Vault of Mysteries

Complete specified dungeon activities or reach target ranks to earn rare inner skills or inner skills with optimal attributes.

  • Exchanges

Players can participate in events/dungeons to exchange for rare skills.

Thus, rare skills are reasonably accessible. Since only one of each skill type can be equipped, players need only a few rare skills matching their elemental needs.

Inner Skills Upgrading

Each Inner Skill in the game can be upgraded by consuming other Inner Skills as materials. Upgrading increases both its primary and secondary attributes, and may also unlock new stats. Additionally, every 10 levels, the Inner Skill’s passive effect will be enhanced.

Inner Skills have a maximum level cap. Once reached, they can no longer be upgraded. The max levels for Blue, Red, Purple, and Gold Inner Skills are 10, 15, 20, and 25 respectively.

There is also a current level cap based on your character level. For example, when your character is between level 1 and 40, Inner Skills can only be upgraded up to level 5.

Tips for beginners

Should I Upgrade Low-Tier Inner Skills?

New players often struggle with this early-game dilemma. Without Gold or Purple skills, upgrading Red/Blue skills seems tempting for combat power. However, do not upgrade them. Current progression is rapid-dungeons are clearable without upgrades, and low-tier skill boosts are marginal. A full Gold set becomes attainable within two to three days of gameplay; so just postpone upgrades until then.
