Global satellite composite is created from NOAA, EUMETSAT, and Himawari. The image frequency is 5-15 minutes based on area. Doppler radar covers large parts of Europe, America, Asia, and Australia.

The app itself is superb! I love all the information you can draw from it and how it is presented! I donated quite a lot to support this project (never spent so much on an app before) and I would have totally rated it with five stars, if it weren't for the widgets. Each time I try to add a widget from Windy to my phone, the app crashes. I would love so much to have the statistics about my favourite spot directly on my screen or to see the map from around that spot. Please debug this issue!
data wise good, UI needs work: It seems impossible to set a preferred weather service, which is a downer, because the default service is horribly wrong almost all of the time. Luckily, you can change the service easily in the interface, but you have to do it manually every single time you use the app. UI could be more user friendly, but overall this is, so far, the most usable weather app of many I have tested. unfortunately, zero support, only some weird forum to post to, else I'd happily buy.
I love Windy. Has a lot of useful data for comprehensive weather layers. I like the possibility of seeing relevant weather in different altitudes. Just missing the speed and fuel calculation tool for VFR route planning. Additionally I would prefer a better cloud storage for my routes planned on laptop. And maybe sooner or later the chill factor layer will also come up. Hope the premium app does not increase in price so much. Up to 10€pa I'll keep it.
