I really want to like this game, but if this game is a love letter to gaming through the years, then we need to break up. The controls are horrible, and fighting in 3D is exhausting. There's a span of time in this game after you first arrive in the mage's village where I swear the game is making a commentary on how terrible RPGs can be, because that part is just bad. I love the concept, but the controls make this impossible to stick with.
I saw a lot of comments about bad controls for this game. TBH, the controls on this touch screen were on par with PS1. Games back then weren't always easy or intuitive to control, especially games that had static cameras and bad angles in sections. The control scheme added go the nostalgia while still giving it a bit of modern input style. Great job. Looking forward to purchasing/playing Evoland 2. Highly recommend!
Ridiculously janky. 2 stars for a cool concept but it has serious issues. Enemy hitboxes are basically right on top of them, causing you to get unnecessarily hit a lot. Hitboxes are also a huge issue in the wind trap segment of the mines to the point where the game is unplayable. The character moves way too slow for those traps, and the wind can take you to your death even when you're standing on another tile.
