Spinemobility Description
Spinemobility’s Boot Camp App for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) is a step-by-step self-management program for people with LSS. The Boot Camp program has been clinically proven to reduce pain and improve walking and overall functional abilities in people with LSS. Although individuals learn the program in 6 weeks, once learned, the exercises and self-management strategies are designed to be implemented for life since there is no cure for LSS.
The program was designed by Dr. Carlo Ammendolia, a clinician-scientist at the University of Toronto and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Ammendolia has conducted extensive research in LSS and is considered a world expert in this area.
The Boot Camp App for LSS was designed with the latest research and aims to train the user how to reduce symptoms, improve walking and functional abilities and increase overall physical activity. The App also provides for the convenience and portability of having the program on the user’s mobile device.
The App consists of detailed instruction on specific exercises with accompanied video demonstrations and a schedule outlining the intensity and frequency required for each exercise. There is instruction on self-management strategies aimed to reduce symptoms and maximize walking and standing ability. There is also a feature to set realistic expectations for the program and to set realistic personal goals.
The App provides regular feedback and monitoring by tracking walking ability and inactive time as well as progress on achieving the user’s personal goals and successes.
There are reminders to perform exercises and a walk test, and rewards for performing the required exercises and achieving user’s goals.
Throughout the program, the App provides personalized messages aimed at increasing motivation, expectations, and self-confidence, reducing fear and elevating mood. There is also a chat room where users can engage with other people enrolled in the program, share experiences, get support from peers, and provide help to others.
