Crazy Eights Description
Crazy Eights is a simple and fun game played with the standard 52-card deck. The goal is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in his hand.
The player who is the first to have no cards left wins the game. The winning player collects from each other player the value of the cards remaining in that player’s hand as follows:
For each eight = 50 points
For each K, Q, J or 10 = 10 points
For each ace = 1 point
For each other cards its face value
5 cards are dealt face down to each player, means players cannot see each other’s cards. The balance of the pack is placed face down on the table and forms the stock pile. The dealer turns up the top card and places it in a separate pile, this card is the “Starter”. If an eight is turned, it is buried in the middle of the pack and the next card is turned.
Starting with player sitting to the dealer’s left, each player must place one card face up on the starter pile, the card played (other than an eight) must match the card showing on the starter pile, either in suit or in rank.
Example: If the Jack of Diamonds is the starter, any diamond may be played on it or any Jack.
If unable to play, the player has to draw card from the top of the stock pile until a card can be played this goes on till he pick up three cards. If he still doesn’t get a card to play he “Passes” the turn.
All eights are wild cards which means an eight may be played at any time in turn, and the player can choose any suit to continue play. The next player must play either a card of the chosen suit or an eight.
The round goes on till one of the player gets rid of all his cards or the stock is exhausted. The score of each player are tallied at the end of each round. At the end of the 5th round the player with the minimum points is declared the Winner.
