Definition of Insurance
The term insurance in its development in Indonesia comes from the Dutch word assurantie which later becomes "insurance" in Indonesian.
However, the term assurantie itself is actually not an original Dutch term, but comes from the Latin word, namely assecurare which means "to convince people". This word became known in French as assurance.
Likewise, the terms assuradeur which means "guarantor" and geassureerde which means "the insured" both come from the vocabulary of the Dutch language.
Whereas in Dutch the term "coverage" can be translated into insurance and assurance. These two terms actually have different meanings, insurance means covering everything that might happen. Whereas assurance guarantees something that will definitely happen.
The term assurance is further associated with coverage related to a person's mental problems.
