The Walking Dead: Road to Survival Beginner's Guide for Getting Started

2022-01-02

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival is an exciting survival and strategic game that sees you play with the original characters from the highly acclaimed AMC series. The game lets you play with the show's popular characters such as Michonne, Rick Grimes, Daryl, and many other survivors from the series.

You'll battle against not just zombies or walkers as they're famously called in the series, but you'll also fight against some of the most formidable enemies from the series, like the Governor and the infamous Negan.

The game takes all of its inspiration from Robert Kirkman's popular series and presents players with a definitive Walking Dead strategy Role-playing game. So in this article, we'll be giving you a brief beginner's guide on some of the game's basic concepts and features that you should familiarise yourself with.

Team Building

One of the most interesting game modes is the campaign, where you'll have to build strong teams all around the foes you'll be encountering from time to time. We recommend putting together a team consisting of strong and fast characters that'll easily allow you to defeat tough enemies.

You will also need to use at least two support characters. One of them should heal while the other will act as a buff on the team. You can also use a third support character, especially if you can't help but notice that your team is being defeated often, and you'll probably need more healers and buffs.

Raiding

If you're the sort of player who enjoys raids, then we advise you simply use your most powerful character for all types of raids. If you're finding it hard to determine your most powerful character, simply use the autofill option, and the character will be automatically chosen for you.

You can find this option at the top of your device screen. Once selected, you will pick your most powerful survivor and equip them with your best weapons as well. The mission of a good raid team is typically to take down the opposing enemy team as fast as possible.

If you can, try to kill at least one or two zombies with your opening attack. That'll reduce their number at the early stages of a raid, and if you can take down up to four, then you'll be victorious. Try not to get hit with critical hits because sometimes even your most powerful character won't last long when dealt with too many or just the right amount of critical hits.

Characters

Like in most games as of recent, upgrading is one of the most important aspects of progress. So likewise, in this game, you must concentrate on leveling up and upgrading characters with three or more stars. These characters usually have the most preferred adrenaline-type rush and overall stats.

Selling all of your lower star characters, such as 1 star. Keeping them doesn't prove beneficial as they're far too inferior to be used in battle. So we advise you to sell them since you also can't use them to level up or upgrade the 3-star characters. You can only use 2 Star characters to level up or upgrade higher stars.

For every trait, you should try to have up to 3 characters that possess various types of adrenaline rush. Preferably one that can deal great damage to a single target or AoE, another that can offer their healing abilities to the team, and then one who can buff the entire team. If you do this, you can create teams that can go up against various types of enemies and still have just enough support/damage to survive against them.

Regions

If you feel like restarting the entire game from scratch, you can change the region from the game's settings. You can move to a new region where an entirely different raid leaderboard in tournaments and even new factions. For the good news, your amount of gold remains the same even after changing your region, and your entire game progress is saved upon the servers.

This isn't rerolling but simply a region change feature. And even if you haven't yet connected your Facebook account with the game, you can initiate a complete reset by logging into Facebook with a different device. However, you'd have to make use of that particular Facebook account on your device to avoid saved progress confliction.

Tokens

These are in-game tokens that will be rewarded to you after you've completed raids. Tokens are important, and you can use them to roll in the Recruit and Rewards page of the game rather than spending your hard-earned gold. However, if you're starting and are yet to reach a big rooster in size, then we recommend saving up all your character tokens until after you've got more space.

On the other hand, Weapon tokens can be used whenever you like as there is no storage limit to them. Similarly, you should do the same for your achievement rewards as well. Since there isn't enough room to save them all, you can use them because they could be stolen by enemies through raids if unused.

Adrenaline Rush

In this game, regardless of the character you're using, each basic attack gives you adrenaline. But there is a cap, and once you've reached this cap, the character can pull off their special move, which will automatically replace their actual basic attack for the turn. You can decide to decrease this cap on your adrenaline by leveling.

The adrenaline rush is important, and in tough situations, it can be very helpful. It is very effective for both Area of Effect attacks and Single target and Area of Effect and Single target buffs and heals.

Consumables

Being a turn-based game, you take turns attacking enemies. So whenever it is your turn, you can use different types of consumables against opponents, some of which could be the determining factor of the battle, and see your team become victorious. Consumables cannot be used in Raids, and you can craft them in the game's Workshop, with new and improved features available for research after any upgrade.
