Grand Blue is a One Piece-inspired Roblox RPG built around island exploration, quests, fighting styles, weapons, bosses, ships, and special powers called Cursed Fruits. The game is currently in Early Access, so some systems may continue changing, but the core beginner progression is already clear. The official Roblox page confirms that Cursed Fruits spawn every hour on trees and plants, while each Fruit keeps its own saved skill progression even after you switch away from it.
For new players, the fastest route is not wandering around killing random enemies. Quest efficiency matters far more. Your early goal should be to level through Anchor Town, move to Clown Town around Level 30, then continue toward Maple Village around Level 70 while gradually improving your Fruit, Fighting Style, weapons, and ship.

Grand Blue Beginner Progression
|

|

Anchor Town |
Main quests + Marine Captain repeatable |
|
30–70 |
Clown Town |
Johnny repeatable + Buggy the Clown |
|
70+ |
Maple Village |
Gus and nearby repeatable quests |
These levels are best treated as recommended progression bands rather than permanent hard locks, since Grand Blue is still in Early Access.
Level 1–30: Start in Anchor Town
Anchor Town is where you should learn the game's basic combat and build your first reliable quest loop.
Complete the tutorial and introductory objectives first. Once you reach the Marine area, there is a gate that costs 25 Gold to open. Behind it, the repeatable Marine Captain quest becomes one of the most efficient early sources of EXP.
Instead of fighting random NPCs, keep the quest active:
Accept Marine Captain quest → defeat target → turn in → immediately repeat.
This loop can carry you toward Level 30 much faster than unstructured grinding.
There is one important detour worth making before leaving Anchor Town: Almighty Calvin's Wizard's Apprentice quest.

How to Get Your First Devil Fruit
Grand Blue officially calls Devil Fruits Cursed Fruits.
For beginners, the most reliable first Fruit comes from the Wizard's Apprentice quest in Anchor Town. Find Almighty Calvin, pick up the Rusty Shovel below his area, follow the quest markers, dig up the required objects, and return to him. Completing the quest rewards Calvin's Treasure, which contains a Cursed Fruit. This quest is one-time only.
After that, Fruits can come from several sources:
- Hourly natural spawns on trees and plants
- Fruit Chests
- Codes
- Celestial Coin rewards
- World Bosses
- Other progression rewards
The hourly plant spawn and saved Fruit skill progression are both confirmed by the game's official Roblox description.
One of the best beginner-friendly systems is that Fruit skill levels are saved individually. If you stop using one Fruit and later return to it, you do not have to rebuild all of its mastery from zero.

Best Cursed Fruits for Beginners
You do not need the rarest Fruit immediately.
Current Early Access references generally place Darkness and Flame among the strongest overall options, while Wolf, Bomb, and Strength are also useful combat choices. Flame and Bomb are particularly attractive for quest farming because their kits emphasize area damage against grouped enemies.

However, do not waste hours chasing one specific Fruit while underleveled. A usable Fruit that helps you clear quests quickly is already good enough for early progression.
Level 30–70: Move to Clown Town
Around Level 30, leave Anchor Town and continue to Clown Town.
Johnny's repeatable Clown Officer quest becomes the main leveling loop here. Combine it with Buggy the Clown whenever his quest is available, since the boss provides another strong burst of progression.
The biggest beginner mistake at this stage is remaining in Anchor Town because its enemies feel easier.
If you can comfortably handle Clown Town, move forward instead of farming outdated quests. EXP per minute matters more than how quickly you can kill one low-level enemy.

Level 70+: Maple Village
Around Level 70, head toward Maple Village.
Gus provides the main repeatable quest loop, while nearby NPCs can offer additional objectives that can sometimes be completed together. Combining nearby quests reduces travel time and improves leveling efficiency.
By this stage, your build should have more structure:
Main Fighting Style + useful Fruit + upgraded weapon + enough Energy to use your skills consistently.
Do not blindly spread resources across every combat system you unlock.

Fighting Styles Explained
Grand Blue currently has four obtainable Fighting Styles in Early Access:
Brawler, Novice Swordsman, Trickster, and Marksman.
Brawler and Novice Swordsman are available around Anchor Town, making them the most natural early options.
If you enjoy melee combat, Brawler is easy to understand. Players who prefer weapon-focused combat can instead start with Novice Swordsman.
Trickster requires more progression and specific prerequisites, while Marksman becomes available later around Maple Village.
The important point is that Fighting Styles and Cursed Fruits are separate progression systems. Eating a Fruit does not make your Fighting Style irrelevant.
How to Spend Stat Points
Grand Blue includes stats such as:
Health, Strength, Willpower, Agility, Precision, and Energy
Because the game is still in Early Access, avoid copying rigid numerical builds from old videos.
Instead, check the live in-game tooltips and invest around the attacks you actually use.
One stat beginners should watch carefully is Energy. Abilities consume Energy quickly, and running out during a boss fight can leave you unable to maintain your normal attack sequence.
Avoid spreading every point evenly across all six stats.

Ships and Island Travel
Ships become increasingly important because Grand Blue's progression requires moving between islands.
Your first boat should mainly be viewed as transportation, not an endgame investment. Do not spend all your early Gold trying to create the perfect ship when that money could improve your combat setup.
Larger ships can be purchased later in Maple Village, and ships support customization. Their anchors and cannons are functional, giving them more value once naval travel becomes a bigger part of your progression.
For beginners:
Buy what you need to reach the next island first. Upgrade your ship later.
Life Skills
Grand Blue also includes:
- Mining
- Fishing
- Farming
- Cooking
These systems are useful but should remain secondary while leveling.
Mining and farming can contribute materials used in weapon progression, while fishing and cooking provide resources and food buffs.
A sensible priority is:
Leveling → Combat Build → Cursed Fruit → Weapon/Fighting Style → Ship → Life Skills

Best Grand Blue Beginner Tips
Always keep a quest active. Killing a target without its quest wastes potential EXP.
Do Calvin's Fruit quest early. It gives you a reliable first Cursed Fruit without needing to wait for random spawns.
Move islands when the next quest loop becomes efficient. Do not stay in Anchor Town forever.
Use AoE against grouped enemies. Fast mob clears directly improve EXP per minute.
Save some Gold. Trainers, weapons, travel, and later ships all compete for the same early resources.
Do not reroll endlessly for a perfect Fruit. Your first useful Fruit is enough to progress.
Check the Logbook. The official game description specifically recommends it because it contains useful information about the world and progression systems.

Final Progression Plan
For a fresh Grand Blue character, the safest route is straightforward:
Anchor Town to Level 30 → Clown Town to around Level 70 → Maple Village afterward.
Along the way, complete Wizard's Apprentice for your first Cursed Fruit, pick a Fighting Style that matches your preferred combat style, keep your stats focused, and treat your first ship primarily as a way to reach better islands.
Grand Blue rewards players who progress efficiently instead of chasing perfect gear and Fruits too early. Build something functional, keep your repeatable quests active, and push toward the next island as soon as your character is ready.
