Roblox DOORS The Stairwell Guide – How to Enter and Beat the Secret Subfloor

The Stairwell is one of the hidden areas introduced around the latest DOORS content updates. Unlike the normal Hotel or Mines progression, this secret subfloor focuses on repeated staircases, unusual environmental interactions, and entities that require very specific responses.

The biggest challenge is reaching it in the first place. You need to prepare before arriving at the hidden entrance, and once inside, blindly rushing through every staircase is one of the easiest ways to fail.

How to Enter The Stairwell in DOORS

The most reliable route begins in The Mines, around the section following Door 150.

You should bring a Skeleton Key with you before reaching the hidden entrance. Around Door 152, search the surrounding damaged structure rather than immediately following the normal path forward. A hidden route leads downward toward a locked entrance that can be opened with the Skeleton Key.

A practical route looks like this:

Step

What to Do

1

Obtain and preserve a Skeleton Key

2

Enter The Mines

3

Progress through the Door 150 area

4

Around Door 152, look for a hidden route leading downward

5

Follow the lower path to the locked entrance

6

Use the Skeleton Key to enter The Stairwell

The most important preparation is simply not using your Skeleton Key too early.

A reliable light source is also useful because many Stairwell areas are dark, although you should still pay attention to entity-specific mechanics instead of keeping your focus entirely on visibility.

How The Stairwell Works

The Stairwell does not follow the standard DOORS rhythm of opening one numbered door after another.

Instead, you progress through staircases, landings, side rooms, and anomaly areas. Some sections require you to interact with objects in the environment before you can continue.

Because layouts and encounters can vary, it is better to learn each entity's mechanic than memorize one exact floor sequence.

The main threats you should understand are:

  • Creak
  • Noise
  • Meld
  • Stem

You may also encounter Cobbler and the Depot, which are connected to additional interactions and achievements.

Creak – Keep Checking Behind You

Creak is one of the most important entities in The Stairwell.

Its main purpose is to punish players who only look forward while climbing. Creak approaches from behind, so you need to turn around regularly and check where it is.

Looking at Creak forces it back, giving you room to continue climbing.

A safe rhythm is:

Move forward → check behind you → confirm Creak is pushed back → continue.

Do not spend the entire run staring backward, but do not climb several sections without checking either.

Creak makes awareness more important than raw speed.

Creak

Noise – Control Your Movement

Noise works very differently.

When Noise is active, movement becomes dangerous. Pay attention to the visual and audio warning signs and stop moving when the threat intensifies.

Eventually, you can locate the TV associated with Noise.

The important objective is to destroy that TV. One effective method is to move it toward the staircase and send it down until it breaks.

Once the TV is destroyed, Noise is disabled.

The safest approach is:

Move carefully → react to Noise warnings → locate the TV → destroy it when safe.

Randomly sprinting around the room usually makes the situation harder.

Noise

Meld – Use the Fire Alarm

Meld appears as a dangerous growth blocking or occupying parts of the environment.

You do not deal with Meld by simply attacking it.

Instead, search the area for a Fire Alarm or the relevant environmental interaction. Triggering the fire system burns the Meld and clears the obstruction.

When Meld appears, your priority should therefore be:

Find the Fire Alarm first.

Do not waste time trying to force your way through the affected area.

Stem – Pick It Up and Throw It

Stem is much simpler than Creak or Noise.

When you encounter Stem, you can interact with it and throw it to make it pop.

This interaction is also tied to one of The Stairwell's optional achievements.

Stem is not something that requires a long survival strategy; just recognize the interaction and deal with it when you have a safe moment.

Stem

Cobbler Is Not Hostile

One of the easiest mistakes new players can make is assuming that every unfamiliar entity in The Stairwell is dangerous.

Cobbler is not an enemy you need to escape from.

Simply encountering Cobbler is part of the subfloor's optional discovery content.

If you see it, there is no need to panic or immediately run away.

What Is the Depot?

The Depot gives some of the items and Gold collected during a run additional value.

Two notable interactions are associated with it:

  • Use an item at the Depot
  • Deposit a large amount of Gold at once

Because of this, players trying to collect every Stairwell achievement should avoid ignoring Gold or disposable items during exploration.

The Depot is another reason not to treat The Stairwell purely as a race to the exit.

Stairwell Badges

The Stairwell includes several achievements tied to entering, escaping, and interacting with its entities and mechanics.

Going Down

Enter The Stairwell

Going Up

How to Beat The Stairwell

The biggest difference between The Stairwell and normal DOORS content is pacing.

Many DOORS players develop the habit of sprinting whenever something strange happens. The Stairwell repeatedly punishes that instinct.

Creak requires you to monitor what is behind you.

Noise requires you to control when you move.

Meld requires you to search for an environmental solution.

That means the safest general strategy is:

Move deliberately rather than continuously.

When entering a new landing, quickly identify the staircase, nearby rooms, and possible interactive objects before committing to the next section.

If Creak is active, keep checking behind you.

If Noise appears, slow down and respond to its warnings before trying to locate the TV.

If Meld blocks progression, stop searching for an alternate staircase and look for the Fire Alarm instead.

keep checking

Is Multiplayer Easier?

Yes, The Stairwell can be more manageable with multiple players.

One player can watch for Creak while another searches the room for a TV, Fire Alarm, or other objective.

This reduces the amount of information one person has to monitor at the same time.

However, everyone should still understand the basic entity mechanics. A teammate who keeps moving during a Noise encounter or ignores Creak can still create problems for the group.

Best Items to Bring

The most important item is:

Skeleton Key

Without it, you may reach the correct hidden route but be unable to enter.

A light source is also useful because of the Stairwell's darker environment.

Beyond that, prioritize items that improve general survivability rather than carrying unnecessary objects that make inventory management harder.

If you are also hunting Depot-related achievements, keeping at least one usable item and collecting Gold can be worthwhile.

Common Mistakes

Reaching the entrance without a Skeleton Key

This is the biggest preventable mistake.

Plan for The Stairwell before entering The Mines, not after reaching Door 152.

Never looking behind you

Creak specifically punishes this behavior.

Build a habit of quick camera checks every few moments.

Sprinting during Noise encounters

Noise is about controlled movement. Running blindly makes the encounter harder.

Ignoring environmental objects

The Stairwell relies heavily on environmental solutions.

The TV and Fire Alarm are not background decoration—they are part of the survival mechanics.

Assuming every entity is hostile

Cobbler is the clearest example.

Final Tips

The Stairwell becomes much easier once you stop treating it like a normal DOORS floor.

Prepare a Skeleton Key, reach the hidden route in The Mines, and enter with the expectation that observation matters more than speed.

Inside:

  • Check behind you for Creak
  • Control movement around Noise
  • Destroy Noise's TV
  • Use the Fire Alarm against Meld
  • Throw Stem when needed
  • Do not panic around Cobbler
  • Explore side areas for Depot interactions

The most important rule is simple:

Do not rush blindly.

The Stairwell is designed around awareness, environmental interaction, and learning what each entity expects you to do. Once those mechanics become familiar, the secret subfloor becomes much more manageable.
