Best Traits for Every Meta Unit in Anime Expeditions (Update 1.0)

pp-jone
|2026-08-14

Anime Expeditions Update 1.0, Warriors Saga, has reshaped the current meta with six new units: Vegetable (Prince), Carrot (Unleashed), Prodigy (Rage), Bioinsect (Final Form), The Drink (Juicebox), and Cubert. Several of them immediately joined established powerhouses such as Shadow, Crow, Crimson, and 8th Sword at the top of the roster.

Traits become especially important at this level because the best option depends on what a unit actually does. Unbound provides +350% Damage, -5% SPA, and +10% Range, while Primordial offers +35% Damage, -15% SPA, and +20% Range. Forsaken specializes in Critical builds with +35% Critical Chance and +35% Critical Damage, and Draconic provides +20% Damage, +50% DoT Damage, and -10% Unit Cost. Investor is designed for farm units with a 25% income bonus.

Shadow (Divine) – Unbound

Shadow (Divine) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Shadow remains one of the strongest all-purpose units because his kit combines personal damage, permanent summons, Stun, Rewind, and Magical team amplification. His Shadow Realm ability can rewind enemies while temporarily increasing the Damage of Magical allies.

Because so much value is packed into one unit, Unbound's massive raw Damage increase is the natural endgame option. Primordial is an excellent stopping point if you roll it before Unbound.

Puppet (Telekinetic) – Unbound

Puppet (Telekinetic) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Puppet is especially valuable in boss-focused content. Puppet Mark makes the strongest enemy in range take 20% increased incoming damage, while Complete Control provides a two-second Rewind on a global cooldown.

Unbound improves Puppet's personal contribution without changing why you bring the unit: powerful teamwide boss amplification.

Crimson (Brother) – Unbound or Draconic

Crimson (Brother) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

Crimson is one of the clearest cases where Draconic deserves consideration. His regular attacks create delayed Crimson Explosions and damaging pools, while Piercing Crimson deals repeated damage over a ten-second channel.

Choose Unbound for the highest general damage ceiling. Draconic is particularly attractive when building around sustained damage and DoT-oriented gameplay because it adds +50% DoT Damage.

Crow (Black Fire) – Forsaken

Crow (Black Fire) – Forsaken

Best Trait: Forsaken

Crow is the major exception to the “just roll Unbound” rule. Current Update 1.0 recommendations specifically favor Forsaken.

Crow applies Illusion through regular attacks, stores part of the damage dealt before triggering delayed AoE damage, and also brings a valuable anti-shield Black Fire mechanic. Forsaken adds +35% Critical Chance, +35% Critical Damage, and additional Range, making it especially suitable for his damage-focused setup.

If you already have a strong Forsaken Crow, there is little reason to treat it as a failed Unbound roll.

Vegetable (Prince) – Unbound or Draconic

Vegetable (Prince) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

Vegetable is one of Update 1.0's strongest team-scaling carries. Royal Rivalry gains value from allied Regular, Critical, and Follow-Up Attacks, eventually building Damage, Critical Chance, and Critical Damage bonuses. Awakened Pride further strengthens his offensive stats after transformation.

Unbound maximizes his overall carry ceiling and is the safer universal choice. Draconic is also listed among his best current Trait options, particularly if you value its combination of Damage and reduced Unit Cost.

The Drink (Juicebox) – Unbound or Draconic

The Drink (Juicebox) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

The Drink is built around Follow-Up Attack synergy. Every fourth Regular Attack applies The Drink Mark, increasing Follow-Up Attack damage against the target while also applying Physical weakness. His Quick Assist can then respond to allied Follow-Up Attacks with an additional attack.

This makes him particularly strong alongside Carrot. Unbound offers the highest general output, while Draconic remains a viable premium alternative.

Prodigy (Rage) – Unbound

Prodigy (Rage) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Prodigy is one of the strongest self-contained carries introduced in Warriors Saga. His transformations reward repeated attacks, while Rage Unleashed increases his Damage and improves his full-range burst once the Rage meter reaches its threshold.

His Unyielding Spirit also benefits from enemies carrying Status Effects, giving him excellent scaling in status-heavy teams. Unbound is the straightforward endgame choice because his entire kit benefits from a huge increase to base damage.

Carrot (Unleashed) – Unbound or Draconic

Carrot (Unleashed) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

Carrot combines Critical Attacks, transformation, Follow-Up Attacks, and mobility. Battle Instinct guarantees a Critical Attack after a sequence of non-crits, helping build Fighting Spirit. Once transformed, he gains additional Damage and Critical Damage.

Instant Relocation is another major reason Carrot is strong, as it can generate immediate Follow-Up Attacks and pairs naturally with The Drink.

Even though Carrot has a Crit-focused kit, the current recommendation is Unbound or Draconic rather than automatically forcing Forsaken.

Cubert – Unbound

Cubert – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Cubert is one of the strongest pure support additions in Update 1.0. His Cubes can attach to units around the map, adding Damage and Range, while the Cubes themselves can attack and eventually explode to apply Stun.

Unbound is the listed endgame Trait choice. However, Cubert is generally a lower reroll priority than your primary carry, so players with limited Trait Crystals should finish their main DPS first.

Bioinsect (Final Form) – Unbound

Bioinsect (Final Form) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Bioinsect is designed for long stages and scaling content. His forms provide a mixture of copied Damage, buffs, Slow, Stun, Range growth, AoE growth, and additional summons.

Because Bioinsect accumulates more value as a run progresses, Unbound gives his final build an extremely high ceiling. He is especially worth investing in for Infinite and other modes where he has enough time to reach later forms.

8th Sword (Berserk) – Unbound

8th Sword (Berserk) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

8th Sword is a classic late-game hypercarry. Each takedown permanently adds 1% Damage up to 100%, and after enough takedowns his Berserk state adds further Damage and faster attacks.

That natural scaling makes Unbound an obvious endgame target. The unit already becomes stronger as the battle continues, and Unbound pushes the final damage ceiling even further.

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) – Unbound or Draconic

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

Flame Emperor is one of the strongest matches for Draconic because Burn is central to his identity. Wildfire spreads Burn across multiple enemies, while Wall of Fire can apply sustained pressure across a lane.

Unbound still wins when maximizing overall raw output, but Draconic's +50% DoT Damage makes it a particularly valuable alternative in Burn-heavy compositions.

Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) – Unbound

Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Cursed Immortal behaves differently from normal stationary tower-defense units. He travels down the lane with a damaging aura and alternates between states that change the size and strength of that aura. Each state change can also build additional Critical Chance.

Because his value comes from repeatedly damaging groups as he moves along the path, Unbound's large Damage bonus is the best overall choice.

Cursed Student (True Love) – Unbound or Draconic

Cursed Student (True Love) – Unbound or Draconic

Best Traits: Unbound / Draconic

Cursed Student's standout mechanic is Cursed Mimicry. Every third Regular Attack can copy the closest ally, combining Cursed Student's own Damage with part of that ally's Damage. Correct positioning next to a powerful carry is therefore extremely important.

Unbound is the safer universal option, while Draconic remains a recommended alternative, particularly when using him inside teams that lean heavily into status and DoT interactions.

Forbidden Teacher – Unbound

Forbidden Teacher – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Forbidden Teacher is valuable because Teacher Blessing buffs Magical units inside her range, making her particularly effective in the Magical-heavy Update 1.0 environment.

Unbound is the listed ideal Trait, but she should not consume your reroll budget before units such as Shadow, Prodigy, or Vegetable. Her main purpose is team amplification, so a usable utility Trait is enough while you finish your carries.

Ramen Guy – Investor

Ramen Guy – Investor

Best Trait: Investor

This is the easiest Trait choice in the entire guide.

Ramen Guy is a farm unit whose Donburi passive increases Yen earned from enemy kills by 50%. Investor then adds another 25% income bonus for farm units.

Do not waste Trait Crystals trying to turn Ramen Guy into a DPS unit. Once you hit Investor, stop rerolling.

Toy Maker – Unbound

Toy Maker – Unbound

Best Trait: Unbound

Toy Maker focuses on lane control rather than conventional attacks. The unit continually sends Toys onto covered paths, creating blockers that buy additional time for the rest of your team. Later upgrades improve those summons and can add death AoE and stronger mutated Toys.

Unbound is the listed best Trait, although Toy Maker is another support that should normally come after your primary DPS units in Trait Crystal priority.

Which Traits Should You Keep?

You do not need Unbound on every unit before your account becomes competitive.

Primordial is one of the safest traits to keep on almost any DPS unit because +35% Damage, -15% SPA, and +20% Range are useful together. Forsaken should be strongly considered on Crit-oriented units, while Draconic becomes much more attractive when the unit gains meaningful value from DoT.

For less-developed accounts, Bolt (-15% SPA), Precision 2 (+20% Crit Chance and +10% Crit Damage), and Optics (+25% Range) can also serve as reasonable temporary rolls instead of burning every Trait Crystal immediately.

Best Trait Reroll Priority

If Trait Crystals are limited, a sensible Update 1.0 investment order is:

  1. Main Carry — Shadow, Vegetable, Prodigy, Carrot, Crimson, or another primary DPS.
  2. Ramen Guy → Investor — economy affects the rest of your run.
  3. Second Carry / Boss Unit — Puppet, Crow, 8th Sword, Bioinsect, or another unit central to your team.
  4. Specialist DPS — Flame Emperor, Cursed Student, or Cursed Immortal.
  5. Support Units — Cubert, Forbidden Teacher, and Toy Maker.

Unbound has only a 0.1% roll rate with 1,500 pity, so repeatedly chasing it on every support unit is extremely expensive. Primordial, Forsaken, and Draconic are all valuable rolls that should not automatically be thrown away.

Final Verdict

The simplest rule for Anime Expeditions Update 1.0 is that Unbound is the best general-purpose endgame DPS Trait, but the best build is unit-dependent.

Run Forsaken on Crow, Investor on Ramen Guy, and seriously consider Draconic on DoT-focused units such as Flame Emperor and Crimson. Vegetable, Carrot, The Drink, and Cursed Student also have viable Unbound/Draconic routes, while Shadow, Prodigy, Bioinsect, 8th Sword, and Cursed Immortal are straightforward Unbound targets.

Most importantly, do not reroll a strong Primordial, Forsaken, or Draconic just because it is not Unbound. Matching the Trait to the unit's actual role is far more efficient than chasing the rarest Trait on every slot.
