How to master the Polus Map in Among Us - Secret Locations And More

Perhaps one of the most hyped games globally, Among Us has taken the gaming world by storm. Developed by Innersloth Studios, the game is based on the Mafia games wherein one Perpetrator has to net get caught by nine other peasants as he tries to kill them off one by one. Among Us uses the same cues but instead uses Crewmates and Impostors to do the job. As the game has progressed, various new maps have been added to the game.

The most recent map to the game, Polus, is the largest yet and features many unique aspects about it that differentiate it from the other maps. Since Airship still has not been released, here is how you can master the Polus Map in Among Us and always win no matter what you are.

Tasks in Polus:

Since Polus is the largest map in the game, there are several different tasks you can do. Here are the tasks that we recommend you always take a look after as they can be the hardest to do / easiest for the Impostor to kill in most situations.

  • Rebooting WiFi in Communications
  • Completing Scan in Medbay
  • Fixing Weather Node and Recording Temperature
  • Refilling in Storage
  • Clearing Asteroids
  • Repairing the Drill

If you get these tasks as a Crewmate, we recommend doing them earlier as you might end up dying because most of these tasks take you to areas that are extremely split up. If you are an Impostor, lurk around these particular areas as you can snag some free kills from there.

Note that since the map is large, both the Impostor and Crewmates find it extremely difficult to find people can get extremely difficult in certain situations.

Vent Routes:

The Impostor mainly takes vent Routes. However, Crewmates should know about these routes so they can vary from anyone posing. Four common vent routes are possible in Polus. They are as follows:

  • A vent that connects Electrical, Security, and O2
  • North-West corridor to the North-East Corridor
  • Laboratory, Admin, and South Corridor
  • Storage, Communications, and South Corridor

As you can see, the Impostor has a lot of free space to move around the map. The most commonly used vent out of all these is perhaps the last one. This vent allows the Impostor to easily move from the South Corridor to Admin if they please. While Crewmates can spot venting quite easily on Polus as the map is quite large and someone traveling such large distances in a short time always raised red flags, it still lends a lot of freedom to the Impostor.

The South Corridor will always remain a Hotspot for both the Impostor and Crewmates. We recommend that you double-stack as Crewmates in this location. So, even if one of you end up being killed, the other can report and catch the Impostor off-guard. If this area is not secured, there is a high chance that the Impostor vents away to the unknown and goes away scot-free.

Getting Caught:

Vent Routes are a dangerous ordeal for any Impostor as Polus has a security camera just like the Skeld. While it is hard for someone who is watching Admin keep an eye on all the different angles, it still gives them a very valid edge. The security cameras in Polus too can be accessed from the Admin Room.

If you are venting as an Impostor, you need to be extra careful when someone is in Admin since there is a high chance they might be watching, especially if you are venting near the corridors. If you do get caught, you can still run away as the map is quite large, and you might end up swaying the public in other ways if you are smart.

However, in most cases, the Admin person should generally be targeted first as they have the highest chance to catch you to commit a crime. Admin is relatively unsafe for a Crewmate to be in alone. So, you should not have an issue getting rid of them if need be.

Knowing Vitals:

Polus has a unique feature that you cannot find on any other map. Normally, in other maps, the only way you know for sure if someone has died is by looking at their dead body or seeing someone report it. However, in Polus, you can check the vitals of all players in the room. It is next to the office and can be done at any point in time.

You can check vitals without calling a meeting, which means you can see who has been killed at any point without holding a meeting or checking a body. For the Impostor, this does not mean much as you already know who you are killing the moment you have killed them.

For a band of Crewmates, this information is of pivotal importance. You can instantly find out who is wiped off the map and rule them out from the game instantly. Moreover, there is a high chance that you might be able to find out who the Impostor is extremely quickly as you know who followed a particular person then. If that is not the case, you can find the body and report it if you want to start a conversation rather than be in the dark until the next kill unfortunately happens.

Conclusion:

Innersloth Studio's Among Us has quickly solidified itself as an extremely interesting game that has attracted many players towards itself. The Polus map is generally played by those who are much more experienced in the game and can withstand the number of punishments Crewmates receives by making the wrong call.

Like an Impostor, the map poses its challenge by introducing tons of places and chokepoints where you might be caught out. Since most of the tasks are accumulated in areas like the South corridor, lurking behind Crewmates sometimes is not the best strategy.
