Let’s play Epic Seven on PC together and find out.

Factors to Consider in Epic Seven Combat

Epic Seven's combat system is extremely intricate and RNG-based, making it extremely hard for players to accurately calculate their damage output due to the luck element involved in a battle between players. These factors are as follows: Speed and Combat Readiness, Evasion and Hit Rate, Effectiveness and Effect Resistance, and finally, Buffs and Debuffs.

Speed and Combat Readiness

Epic Seven’s battle system is what people often call a real-time turn based battle system with the characters taking turns based on how fast they are compared to other characters in the same team or in the opponent’s team.

As such, speed is one of the most important factors players need to consider when building a character and making a team. The higher the speed a character has, the more turns that character takes and the more damage that character can deal.

For characters that need to go first, a difference of 10 speed between the units is absolutely crucial to consider and is a must for characters that hinders the enemy’s team.

In addition, effects that boost the team’s combat readiness is a direct boost to the team’s turn taking capability so players should absolutely utilize this effect as much as possible to boost your team’s turn.

Evasion and Hit Rate

As players may already have known when facing Violet or Remnant Violet, there’s a special dodge mechanic within Epic Seven that indicates the hit success of an attack from a character.

In a normal set up against a character of the same elements, the attack hit rate of a character is 100%. However this rate will fluctuate greatly depending on the enemy’s elemental type, their buffs and other factors.

The hit rate of an attack will be increased by 15% when the character attacks an enemy of the disadvantaged element and it will be decreased by 15% when attacking an enemy of the advantaged element.

Special buffs that increase evasion rate and hit rate also influence this depending on the buffs.

A successful attack will deal 100% of the damage of the attack while a miss attack will only deal 50% of the damage and won’t take into consideration the crit rate or crit damage of the character.

Important Note: Even if you have 100% Evasion rate, the game’s system makes it so that there will always be a 15% chance for all attacks to hit, so you won’t be able to completely dodge all attacks.

Effectiveness and Effect Resistance

Effectiveness and Effect Resistance refers to the likelihood of a character landing their debuffs on the enemies and the likelihood of the character dodging the debuffs being inflicted by the enemies.

Every skill in the game has a certain percentage chance of landing the specified debuffs on the skill’s description. However, the actual probability of actually landing that debuff will be influenced heavily by the character’s Effectiveness as well as the Enemy’s Effect Resistance.

The difference between these two stats will be multiplied by the percentage of the debuff on the skill’s description and will result in the actual percentage of the debuff landing.

The Formula is as follows: (Effectiveness - Effect Resistance)*Debuff Percentage = Actual Debuff Landing Chance

For example: (130% - 100%)*50% = 15% chance of the debuff actually landing (not the 50% chance like the skill described).

Important Note: No matter how high a character’s effect resistance is, there will always be a 15% chance of the debuffs landing no matter what, so players should be careful of this.

Buffs and Debuffs

Like other RPG and Gacha Games, Buffs and Debuffs plays major roles in the game’s battle system and structure. Almost all characters in the game can grant a specific buff or inflict specific debuffs depending on the skills the player uses. The maximum amount of debuffs that can be inflicted on a character is 10 with 10 separate logo instances stacking on top the character’s HP bar.

Buffs can be removed by the enemy if they use specific skills that can remove buffs on the team. However, this effect can be resisted if the team’s Effect Resistance is higher than the enemy’s Effectiveness as stated in the section above. Debuffs can be cleansed by characters with the debuff cleanse skills and the debuff cleanse effect will always land no matter what.

There are 3 types of buffs in the game, these being:

1. Offensive Oriented Buffs : Increase Attack, Increase Attack Greater, Increase Effectiveness, Increase Hit Chance, Increase Critical Damage, Increase Critical Chance, etc.

2. Defensive Oriented Buffs: Increase Defense, Increase Effect Resistance, Immunity, Increase Critical Hits Resistance, etc.

3. Movement Buffs: Increase Combat Readiness, Increase Speed.

There are 4 types of Debuffs:

1. Offensive Hindrance Debuffs: Decrease Hit Chance, Decrease Attack, Decrease Effectiveness, etc.

2. Defensive Hindrance Debuffs: Defense Break, Defense Pierce, Unbuffable, Unhealable, etc.

3. Movement Hindrance Debuffs: Decrease Speed, Restrict.

4. Damage over Time Debuffs: Bleed, Burn, Poison.

How to Use the Epic Seven Damage Calculator

With many factors affecting the damage outcome of characters in Epic Seven, it is important to note that the Epic Seven Damage Calculator is not something you can properly use simply to see how much damage you will actually do once fighting against other players. This tool should be used instead as an example of the potential damage output a character might be able to do.

Step 1: Access the Website and Input Your Stats

The Epic Seven Damage Calculator is held at Epic Seven Github and everyone has free access to it by simply pushing buttons.

Then, players will need to input the character you want to test and the stats of that character by adjusting the sliders.

Step 2: Apply Artifacts Effects and Buffs

After inputting the stats, players need to select the special artifact effects tab next to the characters selection tab.

Then, players will need to adjust the buffs that the character has in order to buff their damage output.

Step 3: Adjust the Enemy’s Stats and See The Result

After finishing the first 2 steps, players will then need to adjust the enemies’ stats based on speculations and probability since the game itself doesn’t provide accurate stats for the enemy’s characters while in battle.

Finally, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the number shown to see the best potential damage the character can deal with a normal, critical and miss attack on the enemy.
