Brawl Stars Hide & Seek Guide: Rules, Prop Hunt Modifier and Best Brawlers

You queued into Brawl Stars Hide & Seek expecting a casual party mode, then spent 45 seconds staring at a crate that was actually a Brawler. That is the point. Hide & Seek is not “play around in bushes.” It is a four-round rotation of one boosted Seeker versus three Hiders, locked to the Prop Hunt modifier, and the player who understands when to freeze, when to swap props, and when to burn the Seeker’s health wins the lobby. So, here is your Brawl Stars Hide & Seek guide and we are going to walk you through official rules, how Prop Hunt actually works, Hide and Seek strategy in Brawl Stars for both roles, and the Brawlers that make the mode feel unfair in your favor.

What Is Brawl Stars Hide & Seek?

Brawl Stars Hide & Seek is a dedicated 1v3 mode introduced in the August 2026 update. One player is the Seeker and three players are becoming Hiders. Everyone rotates through the Seeker role across four rounds, so you cannot main one side and ignore the other.

Hide & Seek uses the Prop Hunt modifier, allowing Hiders to transform into map objects by staying still and reveal themselves when moving or attacking.

The mode is designed as a Brawl-O-Ween / seasonal event playlist piece, but Prop Hunt itself is not locked to Hide & Seek. The same modifier can appear in Showdown, Gem Grab, Knockout, Bounty, and Friendly Rooms.

Rule

Official detail

Players

1 Seeker vs 3 Hiders

Rounds

4 total; every player becomes Seeker once

Round timer

45 seconds

Seeker buffs

Extra movement speed, damage, health, and size

Seeker catch

The Seeker cannot regenerate health

Hider win

At least one Hider is still alive when the timer hits zero

Scoring

Seeker win = 3 points; each surviving Hider = 1 point

Required modifier

Prop Hunt is always on in Hide & Seek

The scoring system changes the strategy:
Seekers should focus on eliminating all Hiders, while Hiders only need one player alive when the timer ends.

How the Prop Hunt Modifier Works

Prop Hunt is the mechanical heart of this Brawl Stars Hide & Seek guide. Official wording says to stop moving to blend in as a random nearby map object. Attack to become a different object.

How the Prop Hunt Modifier Works.jpg

Here is what that means in a live match.

  • You become a map prop when you stop. The disguise is a random wall or decoration from that map’s theme. It is not a grass tile and not a floor tile. You are more likely to become an object near you, so standing next to a crate, fence, or statue is smarter than freezing in open dirt.
  • You cannot be damaged while transformed unless you attack or move. Movement or an attack drops the disguise. That is why panic-walking is how most Hiders die. The Seeker sees a barrel start sliding and the round is over.
  • Attacking a different object lets you become that object. After you are revealed, a short standstill lets you swap into a new prop. Do not spam attacks on random debris unless you already need a new silhouette.
  • Prop Hunt is not Hide & Seek-only. It works especially well in Showdown and can also appear in Gem Grab, Knockout, and Bounty. Friendly Rooms can run it too, which is the best place to practice disguise timing before you queue the event playlist.

Practical Prop Hunt Rules

  • Freeze only after you have already chosen a cluster of matching objects.
  • Never disguise as the only barrel in a hallway.
  • After you shoot, assume you are visible for a beat even if you stop immediately.
  • Swap props when the Seeker has already “checked” your current object type.
  • Do not attack to swap if the Seeker is looking at you. Walk behind cover first, then freeze.

Hide and Seek Strategy in Brawl Stars

The mode looks chaotic here but it is actually two different games stacked on one timer.

Seeker Strategy

You are bigger, faster, and hit harder, but every chip you take is permanent for that round. Treat your health bar like a resource, not a cushion.

Seeker Strategy .jpg

  • Clear by object family, not by lane. If three crates sit in a row, tag all three before you leave the pocket. Hiders love hiding in the “already checked” pile.
  • Force movement, then commit. A Super, gadget, or wide attack that makes a prop flinch is more valuable than raw damage on empty air.
  • Do not tunnel the first Hider you see if two are still unaccounted for. A 45-second clock punishes overchase. Tag, confirm the kill, immediately scan the next cluster.
  • Respect chip. A Hider with pierce, percent damage, or a DoT is trying to win the round without ever winning a fair duel.
  • Save your Super for a confirmed silhouette, not a hunch. Missing a Super as Seeker is how Hiders run the clock.

Hider Strategy

Your job is not to out-aim the Seeker. Your job is to make the Seeker waste time.

Hider Strategy.jpg

  • Hide in groups of identical props. One cactus in a cactus field is invisible. One cactus in a gem mine is a joke.
  • Break line of sight before you freeze. If the Seeker watched you stop, the prop is already burned.
  • Split. Three Hiders in the same corner is a Seeker jackpot. One decoy runner plus two frozen props is much harder to solve.
  • When you are spotted, spend movement, not ammo. Reposition, then re-prop. Trading shots with a buffed Seeker is how rounds collapse.
  • If two Hiders are already dead, stop being cute. Live in a boring corner. The 1-point survival score is the win condition.

Shared clock strategy: At 15 seconds left, Hiders should almost never re-peek. At 15 seconds left, Seekers should stop “searching the whole map” and collapse on the highest-density decoration cluster they have not fully tagged.

Brawl Stars Hide & Seek Tips

These Brawl Stars Hide & Seek tips are the ones that separate a lucky round from a consistent scoreboard lead.

  • Choose your disguise quickly before the Seeker starts searching.
  • Look for props with unusual positions or movement.
  • Use gadgets that do not require you to stay exposed. A trap, totem, sandstorm, or delayed projectile lets you freeze again.
  • Do not Super as a Hider unless it creates a new hiding pocket. A Super that only deals damage usually just paints a target on you.
  • As Seeker, walk through decorations, do not only shoot them. Body-blocking a prop can force the Hider to move.
  • In Prop Hunt Showdown / Gem Grab / Knockout / Bounty, the same freeze rule applies, but the win condition does not. You still have gems, stars, or lives to play around. Do not AFK as a bush when the actual mode objective is dying.

Best Brawlers for Brawl Stars Hide & Seek

The best Brawlers depend on your role. Seekers need damage and control, while Hiders benefit from mobility and escape tools.

For Best Seekers

Brawler

Why they work as Seeker

Watch-out

Colette

Colette.jpg

Percent-health damage punishes the Seeker-sized HP pool you are hunting when roles flip, and it melts Hiders who try to tank a check

Needs a clean first tag; misses feel awful on a 45s clock

Shelly

Shelly.png

Super and wide pellets delete clustered props and punish anyone who unfreezes in your face

Weak if Hiders stay far and never clump

Spike

Spike.jpg

Area denial forces movement. A cactus on a decoration pile is a lie detector

Slow if you toss blindly and never follow up

Bo

Bo.png

Mines and totems check pockets you already walked past

Predictable if you only mine the obvious corners

Emz

Emz.jpg

Slow + spray makes “just walk away and re-prop” much harder

Gets kited if you overcommit after a miss

Griff

Griff.jpg

Fast ammo cycle for tagging many objects in one sweep

Needs you to stay disciplined and not dump all coins on one crate

Crow

Crow.jpg

Poison confirms a “was that a prop?” check without a long gunfight

Low burst if you never land the slow

Buzz

buzz.jpg

Super + stun turns a suspected object into a confirmed kill

Super charge can be awkward if nobody reveals

For Best Hiders

Brawler

Why they work as Hider

Watch-out

Leon

Leon.jpg

Invisibility after a break-disguise gives you a second layer the Seeker does not get from Prop Hunt alone

Bad if you Super in the open and then freeze in the same tile

Alli

Alli.jpg

Pulse invisibility plus a finisher if the Seeker overextends. Water-walk also creates hiding lines other Brawlers cannot use

Needs map knowledge; raw dueling into a buffed Seeker is still a losing trade.

Kit

Kit.jpg

Jump-on / attach tools let you vanish off the Seeker’s camera after a bad reveal

Easy to greedy and get yourself isolated

Sandy

Sandy.jpg

Sandstorm is one of the few “I was never here” buttons after you blow a prop

Super timing is the whole pick

Max

Max.jpg

Speed to break line of sight, then freeze in a new cluster

You will throw if you keep running instead of stopping

Stu

Stu.jpg

Short dashes create new angles without a long exposed sprint

Reloads punish panic shooting

Mortis

Mortis.jpg

Dash resets after a check; good at baiting the Seeker into a wall

One missed dash into the Seeker is a free elimination

Gale

Gale.jpg

Knockback buys the extra second you need to re-prop

Does little if you never find a second object pile

Stealth and dash Brawlers are not automatically S-tier. They are S-tier only if you use the extra movement to freeze again. Running laps around the map as Leon is how you donate the Seeker three points.

Flex Picks that Work on Both Sides

  • Spike — cages Hiders as Seeker, creates “do not walk here” zones as Hider.
  • Bo — information as Seeker, delayed pressure as Hider.
  • Crow — chip the Seeker’s non-regen health, then disappear.
  • Tara — Super can snatch a hidden cluster if you guess the pile correctly.

If you are still building a roster for seasonal playlists and Ranked between event modes, make sure to ranked up brawlers to the max and have a best team composition. Hide & Seek rewards a different skill set than a standard 3v3 draft.

Prop Hunt Outside Hide & Seek

Do not play Prop Hunt Gem Grab like Hide & Seek. The modifier only changes visibility and damage rules while you are frozen. It does not change the mode’s scoreboard.

Prop Hunt Outside Hide & Seek .jpg

  • Showdown: Freeze to avoid third-parties, then uncloak to steal a box. Sitting as a prop until the gas arrives is a losing pattern.
  • Gem Grab: A gem carrier who freezes in the open is still a gem carrier. Use props to break chase, then move the gems.
  • Knockout / Bounty: One freeze per life is often correct. Repeated re-peeking is how you feed stars.

Friendly Rooms are the lab. Turn Prop Hunt on, practice swapping objects without firing, and learn which map themes have dense decoration packs.

People Also Ask

Is Brawl Stars Hide & Seek a permanent mode?

No. It shipped as a seasonal/event mode tied to the August 2026 update and Brawl-O-Ween programming. Prop Hunt can still show up in other modes and Friendly Rooms after the playlist moves.

Can Hiders damage or kill the Seeker?

Yes. The Seeker must stay alive, and they cannot regenerate health that round. Chip and burst are legal, but a straight 1v1 into a buffed Seeker is usually a bad trade unless you already forced them low.

Do grass tiles count as Prop Hunt disguises?

No. Official notes say you become a wall or decoration from the map theme, not tiles or grass. Standing in a bush is old-school hiding, not a Prop Hunt transform.

Conclusion

Brawl Stars Hide & Seek is a short-clock reading test. The rules are simple: four rounds, 45 seconds, 1v3, Seeker gets stats but no health regen, Hiders win by existing at 0:00, and Prop Hunt turns stillness into armor. The players who climb the event leaderboard are the ones who hide in object families, swap props only after they break line of sight, and spend the Seeker’s health bar on purpose. Queue it for the chaos, redeem your Brawl Stars codes. Stay for the fact that a well-placed freeze is still the highest-IQ play in the mode.
