Soul Knight is a Role-Playing Game developed by ChillyRoom where you are tasked to wipe out the alien minions who have stolen the Magical Stone. Defeat all the aliens and Retrieve the Stone to save the World. Soul Knight was released in 2017, and the most recent version is 3.4.2, which is available on both Android and iOS for free.

Soul Knight is all about action with a very simple game plan. Explore the Dungeon, find alien minions, defeat them, collect stones and weapons, and repeat this until you complete the game. It has a very intriguing arcade-style gameplay that will be liked by even those who haven't tried or played such dungeon crawler or RP games before.

Soul Knight offers a plethora of characters and weapons to discover and choose from. The maps are automatically generated each time to give you a new experience every time. The game has many features which you will discover when you play the game.

Gameplay

Starting with the gameplay of Soul Knight, I would say the gameplay is not hard to understand. You begin with tutorials and move on to the game's first level. You can select your desired character (if it is unlocked). Each character has unique abilities, skills, and a starter weapon. You will be accompanied by the NPC, which can also attack the enemy.

You need to understand the game's energy system and how that works for every weapon, character, and NPC. Because without energy, you can't fight. The game has 15 levels, defeating alien minions and retrieving the Stolen Stone. Once you do that, you win the game. However, if your energy runs out before, you will lose the game. You can either restart or revive yourself again by watching Ads.

So, isn't it simple enough to understand how the game works? You will learn more as you progress further into the game.

What I liked in Soul Knight (PROS)

  • The game is free, yes, absolutely free. All in-game purchases can be made by watching ads or using GEMS. The game's primary currency can be used for many purposes, like unlocking and upgrading characters. These gems are free to collect.
  • Unlimited ammunition. It means you won't have to fear running out of bullets, but you require energy to fire. Also, keep in mind your opponents also have such weapons with unlimited ammo.
  • Graphics is simply amazing. The two-dimensional graphic design gives it a retro arcade theme. This graphic style is not confusing at all. You know where you have to run to hide from or attack enemies.
  • 250+ weapons to choose from. You will have a starter weapon, but you can also use an alternate weapon to collect on the run. On choosing a new weapon, the old weapon will be stored in its place and will remain there. You can exchange them again at the same place.
  • Easy controls. You will find the joystick and other control options on the left and right end of the game screen. These easy control options allow you to focus more on the game rather than constantly think about the control.
  • NPC character that also fights by your side. What's the harm in getting some help, right? There will be times when you are low on energy and can't fight, then these NPC companions of yours will come in handy. They can attack enemies and allow you to gain energy in the meantime.
  • Automatic aim mechanism for Shooting – you don't have to worry about shooting and aiming simultaneously. As soon as the enemy approaches you, your gun will automatically aim, and you have to shoot.

What I didn't like in Soul Knight (CONS)

  • Energy or health points are easy to lose and hard to gain. For firing ammo, you will lose energy, and to get them back, you have to wait a lot, especially when the boss character enters the scene.
  • Tutorials – Tutorials are just OK. But they need to be more informative. You expect the tutorial will help you learn most of the game mechanics. But Soul Knight Tutorial leaves some of the important parts from explanation.

Conclusion

As you can see, the game has more pros than cons. This is a good game, and I would rate it 8 out of 10. I would highly and wholeheartedly recommend it to you. I would also suggest that the game could add an option to compare the weapon you have with the weapon you will exchange it with. Also, game progression is slow. These changes could motivate me more to play Soul Knight. With this, I would like to end my review. But I would say again that this game is worth playing.
