Punishing - Gray Raven Best Start Intro

In this guide, we have included some of the Best things to know when starting in Punishing: Gray Raven, especially the things you shouldn't miss.

Best Things to Know from Early to Mid-Game:

Who should Your first Farmer Structure be?

In most of the Gacha or these sorts of games, you choose one higher tier structure we usually call the farmer. These are called Farmers because they farm XP and materials for your other characters to consume and become stronger. Typically, these farmers have higher damage or have an AoE skill or attacks that can finish a group of enemies and make the farming/grinding process fast.

In our experience, the best farmers in the start can be the Natural A-Rank of Bianca, Karenina, and Liv can be all solid choices for early to mid-game investment on them. Also, any Natural S-Rank Structure, without a doubt, will be excellent for this role, even support.

We recommend using even a Support as your farmer because, in one of our guides, we have discussed the possibility of using S-Liv as a DPS and Hybrid DPS when farming while as a Support when you have a pure DPS pulled. Using different builds can be done by swapping memories. Secondly, a character like S-Liv has powerful self-sustain healing, making her tanky to survive even the most challenging fights.

Focus on only 1 Structure:

When Leveling in the early game, you should focus only on one character at the start instead of spreading the XP potions around. The main reason for this is to avoid wasting resources and stamina on the odd characters early on. Because some of the starting characters you won't be using later on as you'll be able to farm more of better A and S-Rank Structures.

This tip is essential as you can use one main character or farmer in all modes as your leader until it is essential to use a specific Structure. Secondly, if you spread the resources around more than one unit early on, you won't have enough of them left to strengthen the Structures you later pull.

Finish the Story with Chosen Structure:

Once you have a favorite Structure picked out, you'd want to play as much story content with that Structure. The further you progress the story, the better the resource farming domains become, which means better stamina efficiency. In other words, you get more rewards for the stamina you spend. Progression also opens up the opportunity to farm more Black Cards, the game's premium currency in-game.  You should constantly be pushing the story whenever you can; this is your number one goal and the Best advice for you.

The farther you go into the story, the better the resources domains become and faster your account will become stronger for that exact stamina cost.

Playing with Weapon You Enjoy:

Don't go for meta always; only use meta heroes when you want to push the leaderboard; otherwise, use a Structure or Weapon you enjoy playing and love looking at all day long. Firstly because you'll be grinding in the end-game a lot, and the Structure that is fun to play or sexy to look at while dishing out damage will provide you with long hours of fun.

Secondly, Weapons in Punishing: Gray Raven are expensive to level and overclock, so stick with one first and eventually be moved across different versions of the same character. Liv is an example; you get her 5* Weapon as a 2nd-day login reward you can invest in as the moment you get an S-Rank version of Liv, you can swap the weapon.

What Resources to farm and When:

If you have progressed far and have unlocked the Combat Supply stage, which drops memories, check to see which stage you can receive 6* memories from. If you don't see any 6* drop, start farming Logistics, Maintenance for equipment, and XP materials and improve on that.

Punishing - Gray Raven Best Start Combat Supply

Once you have progressed far enough that you can now get 6* drops in the Combat Supply mode, go there and farm a complete set of 6* memories. Best if you get what you want, but if you don't, you can trade in those at the exchange shop for the correct set, and your goal is to get for that main character of yours. Build a complete set of 6* memories for your chosen Structure, probably one 4-set piece bonus and one 2-piece set bonus, and that's what you are going to run with.

Follow the Blue Dots:

Like the age-old adage, follow the yellow brick road to get to the destination, always follow the blue dots in the game as when there is a blue dot, it usually means you have something to claim. Follow them and check every single mission you can do. The beautiful thing about this game is the weeklies, as most of the rewards are about participation. It’s not how hard you can clear; it’s about how consistently you can clear the weeklies.

Grind for XP:

Once you have enough 6* memories, it’s time for you to grind; we have a separate Guide for that. The Best place for XP materials is not Logistics maintenance but is Co-op, listed under the Events limited access tabs. Co-op is available at account level 35, costs less stamina than logistics, and has similar rewards plus a chance to drop a 5* weapon, which will offer you a better bridge to your 6* weapon.

Natural S-Rank Every 3 Months:

You can get an S-Rank character/structure for free every three months as you'll earn about 1.2k Black Cards from weeklies and dailies, and if you add Black Cards from Story Mode, events, and other sources, you're looking at earning about 5k or more each month. 5k Black Cards is equal to getting a Pity character for S-Rank at the 60 pulls or 15k Black Cards.  Keep in mind; you need to save additional 7.5k Black Cards if you want to guarantee that character's 6* weapon.

Inver-Shards or Fragments:

You can break into fragments the duplicates of a character which you can then use to improve that character's letter grade. Which can summarize as from B > A > S > SS > SSS.

Memories at Best:

Unlike other games, memories as the gear will always have fixed stats and fixed set piece bonuses, which removes a significant randomization factor from the game.

Level the memory that has been overclocked will be stronger than the level 25 memory that hasn't been overclocked. With that fact, make sure that you don't overclock the gear that you don't plan to keep.

Keep spending the stamina to get all the 6* memories while leveling your account level as well.

Bridging Weapons between Tiers:

The co-op has a chance to drop a 5* Weapon, which can offer you the best bridge to your 6* weapon. One thing to note is that you won't play coop early on, and you will need to level a weapon for your main character to advance in the story. You're most likely to level up to something that is not a 5*, and you probably need to do that as well.

Why It’s Important of 6* Drops:

The best reason to grind for 6* drops from Co-op is that initially, you will have minimal Black Cards to spend on your banners, so probably you will spend on S-Rank banners. Secondly, you may have one Structure as your primary having that 6* weapon, and all your other Structures, as you are F2P, are going to use the other weapons that are not 6* and can't have enough Black Cards to roll for them in the weapons banner and that's the best reason for the 5* weapons to drop here. It's the next best thing. You can equip that 5* and start improving it and use that as your bridge weapon to help those Structures contribute.

Your Warzone Teams are not Random:

After Warzone ends, there is a short preparation phase where you can join someone's team or form your friends. Just go to where you usually play Warzone to do this. You are not stuck with other people for scoring. Once the preparation phase is over, you will be placed in a random team if you didn't join or create one of your own.

Training Mode to be the Best:

You can fight the bosses for free without using any stamina. To do this, go to the mode selection and challenge from the bottom and then select the trial zone at the top right. Not only will you have the option to practice co-op combat training, but you can select from several nightmare rescues, story bosses, and other co-op content. You won't earn any rewards from these fights, but it's a great way to get better and extend your play once you’re out of stamina. There are some account-level requirements to access this feature.

Rerolling Resonance for the Best Stats:

Unlike weapons, resonance on memories is random and can be rerolled. Resonance is when you merge one memory into another to unlock bonus sub-stats, which is different from leveling; below are some possible variations that you can get for resonance. You keep rerolling by simply merging another copy of the memory into the one you’re leveling. Do this until you obtain a perfect role.

Possible stats

  • ATK +15, CRIT +15
  • ATK +15, DEF +23
  • ATK +15, HP +75
  • CRIT +15, HP +75

1st Bonus

  • Burst Mode +1
  • Red/Yellow/Blue Orb Skill +1

2nd Bonus

  • Ultimate Skill +1
  • QTE Skill +1
  • Class Passive +1
  • Core Passive +1

Best Monthly Pass:

If you’re playing this game a lot, don’t be shy to buy the monthly pass because it’s terrific. The monthly pass will give you 3k Black Cards in total, which is a massive bump in your Black Cards amount. According to veteran research, you get 6k Black Cards per month roughly, so with this, you amass 9k. so in two months, you should have enough to pull for a new character with a 100% chance, you may have some leftovers for pulling the weapon if you get the S-Rank early. It’s not expensive if you think that you are spending a little bit to support the game and its developers and if you want to guarantee your chance to pull something easily.

Shopping at Best:

Buy stuff that you need when it's on sale because you can break down these materials. You also should buy shards as soon as they're available as either these would land you a new Structure, or you can use these to promote them to Sergeant level and above. There is a limit of how many shards you can get for S-Ranked character, just by them every time as you might get a character that will use these shards to evolve to be a more powerful state.

Punishing - Gray Raven Best Start Lee

The same can’t be said of the 6* memory because farming these might not be that simple because there are many different 6* memories, so buying one can be beneficial, especially one or two that you really need to finish your sets.
