The app connected right away for me. I had to change my phone's wifi network to connect to the fishunter 3D. After figuring that out then connecting was seamless. I fished mostly under 10ft of water and the depth seemed accurate and the sonar screen updated consistently. When I was farther than about 25' from the sonar, the screen would start to lag or skip, so I assumed that was the max range. Overall, I was happy with it for my needs. It will not be replacing my other units on my boat but it was fun to use while fishing from shore.
Update: the developer responded to emails and has indicated that there is an issue with Android users connecting to the military sonar device. A fix is expected in roughly 2 weeks. Original: The app won't connect to the finder on Android phones. When you select the sonar button it never gives the option to pair to the sonar. You have two options, pro or dir3d but no military. Did the military one get phased out? I connect using an iPhone but not the Android.
Only connects for 10-20 min then disconnects.and then trying to reconnect it takes about another 10 min for it to work right. Full charge on the fishhunter too. Edited: for some odd reason, I have to turn my phone to "airplane mode" for this to work 100% of the time. Can you include that in your directions? Also- if your fishing 10 ft of water and the flasher is showing more orange, click on the 33ft again. It resets it.
